ACTIVITIES OF THE YEAR 1947 Thrs rs radro statron 'XI B S the vorce of Magrrolra Your announcer rs Rose Vlarre toduto Next the Nlagnolra Hrgh School Revrew The lrrts of each rrrorrtlr for the school year 1946 41 wrll be presented to you Glorrous Septenrber and the trrrdgrrrg ot' feet back to school In the latter part of thrs open rrrg month the talk was constantly of the Car roll County Farr at Carrollton Magnolra was well represented rn both drsplays and students In the evenrng the students boarded the busses wrth a feelrng of past fun satrsfactron and a lrt tle trredrress Look cute for the brrdre and be sure to smrle' That was the theme rn October The Senrors took a trrp to the Darrs Studro rn lvlassrllon for therr graduatrorr rrctures Also our frrst County An rrual and everyone busrly arrangrng hls or her locks rn order to make a favorable rmpressron on anyone later rnterested rn the Annual Oh I lrke thrs orre' Oh I thrnk thrs one rs really classy' Drsagreements at frrst but rn the end the Junrors chose a beautrful class rrng to the satrsfactron of all Cheer for good old Magnolra Hrgh Yes cheerleaders were elected rn November namely Prleen VIcMrllan Gladys Strdharrr and Magdalene Herstrrre The competrtrorr was keen but sprrrts were hrgh Ah' November was 'rlso the rrrorrth of that colossal productron Surg for Your Supper the Senror Class Play under the drrectron of Everett Cox Srtuatrons were hrlarrous laughs ran wrld and applause was thunderrng Youd laugh too rf you had to wrtrress two bulky farrly good srzed Senror boys try to rmrtate then opposrte sex rn vorce rrrarrner and dress Musrc lovely sweet sprrrt rrngrng Chrrst mas musrc That was the theme for the Chrrst mas program wrth each class partrcrpatrng was a lovely occasron The audrtorrum was a spectacle rn rtself wrtlr two brrghtly lrghted trees red and green balloons danglrrrg from the cerlrng 'rnd sprrgs of mrstletoe corrverrrerrtly plac ed rn darkened corners' From the 20th of Decerrrber to the 2nd of Jan uary books were closed and everyone got rnto the swrng of the holrday sprrrts On the 2nd however classes were gladly resumed we were pleasantly satrsfrecl wrth what the holrdays had had rn store for us alrd were not sorry to be back The New Year loorrred up and we were content wrth the knowledge that we had reached the half rrrark of the school year Englr h class was neatly lard a rde one morrrrng when a representa trve of the Educatronal Supply Co took the perrod to present to the Senrors rnvrtatrons and name cards A srmple but beautrful rnvrtatrorr wrth rrarrre cards to nratch was selected to the satrs factron of the entrre class Magnolra Hrgh School Mrss So and So speak mg Mr Jeffers? Just a rrrrrrute please Ill get hrm Those effrcrerrt offrce grrls composed of Jurrrors and Senrors Just couldnt be beat The Grrl s Chorus under the supervrsron of Mr Westlake rs a real asset to the s hool Composed of srxty grrls they predrct real enjoyment for anyone who lrstens to them Our band I though rn the nyrrrplr state rs capable of produc rrrg a favorable rnrpressron on any audrerrce Vers few accrderrts occur at Vlagnolra Hrgh Tlrrs rs largely clue to the ex ellerrt servrce rend ereci bv our Jurrror Polrce Force The force of twerr ythree safety rnrnded boys and yes a few grrls too were presented wrth shrny bad ges at a program dedrcated to them Oh' mv aclrrng tummy' It was drffrcult to pre rent that aclrrng tummy rf you had wrtnessed that extremely comrfal donkev basketball game rn February Uncontrollable laughter was ru style The rrders weren t successful in scoring too many pornts as therrs was no easy Job try to make a basket whrle on the back of a stubborn krckrug donkey' 'tlmmnrnrmmmmmmnr' those delrcrous hot dogs The hungry throngs at our basketball games were kept happy by the effrcrent clean service of the Junro s and Senrors who took turns at sel'1ng refreshments The Magnolra qurntet drd a swell Job thrs sea son even though they drdnt come up wrth the tournament honors Nrck Costello was grven the honorary posrtron as guard on the All County Team Rush' Rush' Rush' Wrll you please hand me the scrssors the paste the tape and the crepe paper? Ouch my frnger he never was ac- curate when rt came to drrvrng a rrarl You gues sed rt the Senror s Annual Sprrrrg Festrval m March But rt was loads of fun and then the pr ofrts weren t exactly medrocre There go s the noon bell and rsnt everyone Just star ved Well no worry Mrs Rose and Mrs Nermrec along wrth the effrcrent help of some of the older grrls prepared hot lunches darly that were a delrghtful combrnatron of berng tasty de lrcrons and healthful The Junrors presented When The Bough Breaks wrth very satrsfactory results Aprrl 12 The productron was under the supervrsron of 'VIrss Mary Ann Werner All work and no play?
