Dr. George Andrew Christenberry has served as president of Augusta College since 1970. He came to Augusta College from Georgia College at Milledgeville where he had been Dean of the College since 1965. In the summer of 1979, he was named acting vice chancellor for the University System of Geor- gia. Upon the appointment of Dr. Vernon Craw- ford as chancellor, Dr. Christenberry returned in July of 1980 to the presidency of Augusta Col- lege. Dr. Christenberry is the author of several scienti- fic publications. He is also a member of the Asso- ciation of Southeastern Biologists, the American Institute of Biological Sciences, the Georgia Academy of Science, and a number of other professional and honorary organizations. He has been active in the Greater Augusta Chamber of Commerce, the Human Relations Commission, and the Greater Augusta Arts Council. He is also listed in Who ' s Who in America and in American Men and Women in Science.
