An additional step was taken with the establishment of the Junior College of Augusta in 1925. The college shared the facilities of the Academy until the fall of 1957, when it moved to the site of the old Augusta Arsenal. In 1958, it was incorporated as a unit in the University System of Georgia. In 1963, one of the final and most important steps was taken when the Board of Regents authorized the expansion of Augusta College into a four year institution with the first baccalaureate degrees to be awarded in 1 967. 1963 — Spring Activities If r m Honors Day fipPP Dances 1 k . ; ' ■ 1 p i .ii i i '  4 Hb ' ' Si£ Graduation % - ■• ' Spring Events — 1963 Honors Day Recipients of Sophomore Service and Scholarship Awards: Ronald Toole, Mike Murphy, Beverly Ringson, Sally McMahon, Linda Moseley, Ronald Humphrey, George Joe, and Pete Brodie. SUTTON Those remembered longest and whose memories are most highly revered are those whose hearts are gentle, whose sympathies are broad, and who best serve humanity.— Adapted Dean Galloway and Professor Sutton are retiring from Augusta College at the end of the present school year. Coming here shortly after the inception of the college in 1925, both men have made many contributions to its growth from a small, struggling institution to its present status. In the summer of 1929, Dean Galloway came to the college to instruct a group composed mostly of Richmond County teachers in courses in Education. So impressed were the school authorities with his work, that they invited him to become a permanent member of the faculty a year later. Over the years it has been Augusta ' s good fortune that he accepted this invitation. Professor Sutton first came to Augusta as a member of the college faculty in the fall of 1926, and soon established himself as an outstanding instructor and leader in numerous civic projects. During their long tenure at Augusta College , Dean Galloway and Professor Sutton have touched the lives of thousands of Augustans, enriching and ennobling them through their influence. To these two distinguished educators and gentlemen, we extend our best wishes for a future filled with pleasant memories, the continuation of old activities, the pursuit of new ones, and the satisfaction that comes from a job well-done. We at Augusta College shall long be aware of and feel the influence which they are leaving with us. 57 From Out the Past . . Dean Galloway with his children, Ronald and Sara. ! :.. - Ik.
