Text from Pages 1 - 120 of the 1985 volume:

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatso- ever he doeth shall prosper. Psalms 1:3 I strain to reach the end of the race and achieve the prize for which God is calling us up to heaven because of what Christ Jesus did for us. Philippians 3:14 There is a teacher at Augusta Christian who has achieved the blessings of God. She has made a great impression on all students she has taught at ACS. She has worked abundantly to support the Senior classes. She has worked to make very successful our Christian plays. We would like to thank her for her time and support. We, the 1984-85 Annual Staff, would like to dedicate the high school portion of the annual to this dedicated young woman, Terri Wheeler. May God bless you and the future addition. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an exam- ple of the believers, in word, in conversation, in char- ity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. I Timothy 4:12 The annual staff of the 1984-85 yearbook would like to dedicate the elementary portion of our annual to a lady who has given her love and time to the students and families of Augusta Christian. The Lord has sent her to us that she might be an example, as she is, to the younger students. In the past she has taught the kin- dergarten children as well as the fifth grade class. Today she makes the decisions as the elementary prin- cipal. We gladly dedicate this annual to Mrs. Connie DeLoach. JCions Want Zo Welcome you Dare Zo Stand Dare to Stand is a Biblical drama based on the life of Joshua, faithful Hebrew spy, military leader, and spiri- tual successor to Moses. i ' Zhe Key Zo Zife It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible. GEORGE WASHINGTON THE KEY TO LIFE is found in the will of God. We can only know God by admitting we are sinful and accept- ing his Son Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savoir. This is eternal life, that they know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. By taking heed thereto according to thy word. Psalms 119:9. This is what Augusta Christian School is all about, helping a young person know how to live a pure life. The psalmist even gives us the answer, by taking heed or obeying the Word of God. That is why our school puts so much emphasis on obeying God's Word. For out of it (the Word), are the issues of life. It is my prayer that our students would learn to say, With my whole heart have I sought thee. Oh, let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee. Psalms 119:10-11. Students have a great year and give God what He deserves. Give Him your time and talents. Your time is what you spend in reading the Word and in private prayers. Your talents are your testimonies that you can give your fellow students in the halls and classes of ACS. Sincerely, Don Schearer — Headmaster 52 Elementary Messa ye But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. — I Timothy 1:5 At Augusta Christian we do truly feel that we have been chosen by God to be used in His service educating and training children to serve Him. Therefore, we make a special effort to see that each and every one of our children comes to know and love the Lord Jesus Christ. My sincere hope is that the life of every student will be better because they were at Autusta Christian. If it is not real at home, it is not going to be real out there. God has given the home as the context in which we might learn to build relationships. But many people are not learning these at home. Our best school is not teaching as it should be. We have tried to place the task elsewhere: schools, Sunday School, Church, and government. BUT THE HOME IS WHERE WE LEARN TO BE WHAT WE ARE. If you really want to meet that child's needs, you will train that child to love other children and to meet their needs. Parents do not need to be Hitlers driving our children from us. We need to be praying for these children whom God has given us. We need to be praying for the Holy Spirit to speak to them, to convict them. But most important; WE NEED TO BE PRAYING FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT TO MAKE US THE KIND OF MOTHER AND FATHER OUR CHILDREN NEED. We pray that we will listen, that we will hear, that we will meet their needs. This was taken from the book Concentric Circles of Concern by Oscar Thompson, Jr. with Carolyn Thompson, published by the Broadman Press. I urge you to buy a copy and to learn to meet your needs and the needs of others. May God bless you and thanks for your support this school year. Many attribute this great victory to the conservative stand our president takes on many issues. Never before the election of 1984 has there been such a furor over “religion in politics. Under the so called guise of the separation of church and state, prayer and Bible reading have been outlawed in the public schools. Judeo-Christian values as found in the Bible and its moral absolutes are no longer taught. A young lady who now attends a Christian college said recently, “At the age of thirteen, I attended a public junior high school. I was discouraged with the whole situation; the drugs, profanity (used even by the teachers), riots, and the no care attitudes about everything. Perhaps the most volatile issue of the election of 1984 concerned abortion of the unborn child. We are thankful that our president has not only sought to return prayer and the Bible reading to our public schools, but has also spoken out adamantly against the legalization of abortion. Since the 1973 Supreme Court legalized abortion, over 15,000,000 precious babies have been murdered. Psalm 139 and related passages clearly teach that the developing child is God's greatest creation. The Prince of Peace came into this world as a babe in a manger. Due to the anti-Christian, evolutionary and socialist philosophy prevalent in the public schools, Christian schools have sprung up all over our nation. In Proverbs we are told that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Colossians declares that in Christ are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. To be truly educated, we must be bom again by faith in God's son and then the mysteries of the universe are opened for us. Romans 5:8 says But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. This page sponsored by SOUTHEASTERN EQUIPMENT CO. INC. Hugh Barrow, leaves LeRoy Hollimon a Webster's Dictionary in order to increase his verbal skills, his chemistry and trigonometry grades to anyone not interested in going to college, and his ability to play horse to the only girl who ever beat him in that game, Amy Boggus. I, Steven Brock Blomberg, leave the friendship I have with some of my teachers to any recluse of hermit that wants it! Susan Brigham leaves her motto of Dumb Blonde to Lynda Newsome, and her Z-28 to Clayton Galloway who desperately needs to rid himself of the Blue Bomb. Melinda Davis leaves her ability to make it through the 12th grade to her brother Charles, in hopes he will make it too someday: She also leaves computer class, hopefully. Tony Duggan leaves the future English class his wish come true: that Mrs. Wheeler would become pregnant — and she did! I also wish to leave Charles Johnson and David Hylton my eye for girls. I, Keith Gojda, leave to Mike Snyder and Brad Merry my 4th period lunch room with Beth, and to Jim Newman my laid back attitude and books. Mark Durshimer leaves his superior floppy disk to Tracy Williams in hopes he can learn something about computers. I also wish to leave my characteristic name of Sparky to the girls, uh, ladies. I, Ginger Hall, of drained brain and weary body do bequeath the follow- ing: to the whole school I wish God's blessings and guidance, and to leave all the fun of fundraisers and wish them much success. Terry Harmon leaves to Amy Boggus and Lynn Sammons all of her boyfriend problems which she can't handle anymore. To the underclass- men, she leaves Mrs. DeWitt (her personal psychiatrist) so that they can dump all of their problems on her. Missy Parham leaves her softball abilities to Amy Manning in hopes that she too will one day make the all-state team. Jana Peterson leaves her top locker to her sister Amy in hopes that she won't have any more books dropped on her head. Kim Pond leaves her nickname of Airhead to Laura Lindley; She also leaves Gary Little cab fare so he can catch a cab home. Denise Robertson leaves her careful but skillful driving abilities to Babette Renew — the one who needs it the most, and to Natalie Gaskins her fiery RED temper. Preston Russell leaves Mrs. Wiltshire's art class to the future artist, who hopefully, will not lose his patience as I did. I also leave Tim Custer my position and my abilities to hit the ball. I, Robert Spindler, hereby leave my senior privilege of having Mrs. Wheeler two classes a day to Hal Hitchock who thoroughly enjoys her classes. Leigh Ann Truesdale leaves her height to little brother Hal, and leaves Mrs. Gray to the upcoming Biology and Chemistry students in hopes they will find her as a good a friend as she did. Smith Underwood leaves Shannon Shelton and Vicki James their favor- ite shirt, and to Lynn Sammons he leaves Brock. Bridget Wahl leaves Kim Milburn all her Fox hunting abilities and the duty of keeping all those fine daddies straight. Remember: Blondes have more fun! I, David Williams, leaves a box of toothpicks to Coach Bourdo! and my new book Dressing for Success to Coach Evans. Mark Winkler leaves John McBurney all of his haircut notices in hopes he will carry on the tradition. He also leaves his sister Sheri to anybody who will take her. Chun Hing Yu, the one who always attempts to sleep on the bus, who always carries an overloaded knapsack, and who is trying to get rid of this school, leaves all of this pleasure to Eric Reeves. Smith Underwood and Keith Gojda leave their membership in the Big D club to Gary Little, Arvin Pond, Jamie Maddox, and Hal Truesdale. Terri Harmon, Denise Robertson, and Susan Brigham better known as the Three Stooges leave to Katherine, Anita, and Shannon their ability to be Crazy, Cool, and S-T-R-A-N-G-E. Tattoo that on your brain!!!! Jana Peterson, Kim Pond, Melinda Davis leave their computer class to anyone crazy enough to take it.
