She does everyth- ing she is asked to do and quietly goes about leaving her influence everywhere. She taught second grade for several years and then moved to fourth grade. She has done a tremendous job. We at A.C.S. want her to know that we appreci- ate the light that she gives here at A.C.S. Therefore, we proudly dedicate the elementary portion of the 1982-1983 Sword to a wonderful Christian lady. Mrs. Diane McDonnell This lady has surely shone with her good works at A.C.S. When she first came to A.C.S., she worked in the elementary. Later, she moved over to the high school where she has done a tremendous job. She has helped keep the students and faculty together on many occasions. She is a fine Christian lady who does many extra curricular activities. We at A.C.S. appreciate her. Conse- quently, we want to dedicate the high school portion of the 1982-1983 Sword to a gracious Christian lady. I covet your prayers as I act in Christ’s stead as leader of this fine school. There can be no higher calling than that of being used by God. To be entrusted with over six hundred students to be taught to discover and serve a living Savior is a great privilege. It is my prayer for God to keep my life clean and pure before Him to be a worthy example for all the students and teachers here. Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an example unto you to follow us.” II Thessalonians 3:9 I am excited about our academic standing and progress in the field of education. A Christian should always strive to be the best he or she can be. We have a commitment at Augusta Christian for academic excellence. “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul.” Mark 8:36 Donald A. Solomon speaks of the importance of wisdom and understanding. It is the goal of Augusta Christian Schools to see that each of our children gains wisdom and understanding of the Scriptures in conjunction with academic and social skills. Students have individual needs. It is our desire to meet these needs and foster growth and development in these areas through a scriptually based curriculum and highly qualified Christian teachers. God has a plan for every Christian. His Word gives directions for knowing His will. Our children must “grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (II Peter 3:18) and feeding His lambs in our divine commission. What kind of young man woman do want to see at the end of 18-20 years.? We must start molding a child’s life while they are pliable. This can only take place when we have dedicated ourselves to our Lord, to be the parents He wants us to be. Ephesians 5:18b “but be filled with the Spirit.” God must possess us in order for the Holy Spirit to guide us in teaching our children. Ephesians 6:4 “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” Things that can provoke our children are: 1. Over protection — don’t trust them don’t encourage independence 2. Favoritism — never compare your children, each child is unique 3. Set unrealistic goals — push your child beyond their limitations whether in academics, music, or sports. 4. Over indulge — give everything they want never make them take responsi- bility for their mistakes 5. Discouragement — never show sensitivity never reward, verbally or materi- ally for good behavior 6. Fail to make sacrifices on their behalf — I just can’t be bothered — never prepare a special meal 7. Pretend to be perfect — don’t be afraid to let them know you make mistakes and need forgiveness. 8. Never allow them to grow 9. Neglect your child 10. Use abusive words — use criticism instead of praise 11. Physical abuse 56 Fathers, discipline your children fairly and consistently. Mothers, know where your child is, who they are with, and where they are going. The greatest gift you can give your children is to let them know you love and trust each other. Show kindness and affection in their presence. 1 pray each of you will use God’s Divine Principle in Deuteronomy 6:4-7. “Hear O Israel! The Lord God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy might. And these words which 1 command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and thou shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou risest up.” Teach them about God in everything they do, see, and hear. We can do our part to teach them here but these principles must be carried over into the home. We have a wonderful group of children and parents. The Lord has been so good to us beyond our prayers. The Holy Spirit is working in our hearts — To God be the Glory! Mrs. Robertson, Day Care Supervisor DAY CARE DEDICATION I Thessalonians 5:17 — “Pray without ceasing.” This verse is applicable to our Day Care director, Margaret Robertson. She is a dedicated, Christian lady who is ever prayerful and mindful of her responsibility. She is an inspiration to every person at A.C.S. She always has a smile and a word of encouragement. Therefore, the Yearbook Staff would like to dedicate the day care portion of the annual to Mrs. Margaret Robertson. 57 Carolyn Boyle Pat Brewer Ellen Cheek DAY CARE STAFF Sandra Graves Margaret Robertson Supervisor Claudia Nutt Lisa Krueger Crystal Newman SORRY, NO PHOTO Jane Wilson Pat Patch Carolyn Wiggins DAY CARE STUDENTS Kurt Boyd Philip Clark William Craig Adam Cushman Joshua Glymph Kelley Greene Brandyce Holland Katy Harris Seema Kocherry Brian Morates Brandon Newman Lauren Powers Beth Pruitt Lauren Qualman Eric Scott Jyoti Sharma Trevor Siegler Benjamin Smith Jason Smith Ashley Stanley Jenny Sulzycki Jacob Walker Rachel Waters 59 AUGUSTA CHRISTIAN BOARD Charlie Whitney, Jennings Murphy, Bob Halvorsen.
