Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Psalm 100: 1-2 There is a person who has been making joyful noise at A.C.S. for several years now. Her teaching and music personify her love, faithfulness, and devotion to the Lord and to Augusta Christian. She shares unselfishly with us all that is dear to her: her music, her time, even her inspiring husband Neal. It is, therefore, with great appreciation and love that we dedicate the elementary portion of the 1981-82 Sword to a very beautiful lady, Mrs. Jan Little Very few people truly understand the vital role this man plays at A.C.S. Few of us will ever experience the long hours, the hard work, the ups and downs that he has experienced in his effort to bring honor to the name of A.C.S. But we can see the spirit and dedication with which he performs his role, and for this, we would like to honor him as he has honored us. The 1981-82 Sword staff dedicates, with special thanks, the high school portion of this book to a fine Christian and a worthy individual, Coach Rick Linaburg 3 p i¥ As Bob Dylan, a recent convert to Christianity, once wrote, The Times, They Are A Changin'. Yes, not too many years from now we'll laugh at old year- book pictures, reminisce about past friendships, and maybe even long for the good old days. Because a yearbook's purpose is to re- cord the good times that students exper- ience — and even the not-so-good times — the yearbook staff chose The Times as its theme this year. The 1981-82 Sword Staff hopes that you'll enjoy for many years to come this record of The Times at ACS. And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations. Luke 24:47 God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Proverbs 4:25, 26 May the Lord richly bless you and your family — you have been super folks. Richard A. Through the seven years of employment as our school bus mechanic, he has demonstrated his abilities and concern for our ministry. He is a man that possesses positive attitudes toward any task assigned him. It is indeed a pleasure to know a man that works in the conditions that he has to work in with such a constant service. I thank the Lord that I can acknowledge Mr. Loo as a superior worker and even more, consider him a personal friend that I will never forget. We also thank Mrs. Ann Machovec for her con- stant support and guidance, Mr. Rick Mil- ton, our photographer, for all the extra photos he took, developed, and delivered just to help us out, and the Senior Class of '82 for their help with selling ads. The student council, which is com- posed of representatives from the ju- nior high and high school classes, serves as a link between the students and the administrative branch of Au- gusta Christian. The council sponsors a number of student activities and raises funds to present the school with a gift each year. What is the main goal of Au- gusta Christian's student council? It is to bring the love of Christ and a spirit of unity to the atmosphere of A.C.S. With that much going for a school, every year can be highly productive and very, very special for everyone involved. 5S French Club Row 1, I. to r.: Janice Darden, Melissa Harper, Elizabeth Usher, Amy Williams, Marybeth Teeters, Missy Parham, Melinda Davis, Susan Brigham, Smith Underwood Row 2: Terry DeLoach, Jenny Bragg, Susan Johnson, Tracy Conlon, Kathy Davies, Beth Perry, Ron Saxon, Leigh Ann Truesdale, Vinson James Row 3: Mrs. Lewis, Adv., Terri Harmon, Aaron Eshee, Matt Trainor, Sam Thompson, Hugh Barrow, Tony Duggan, Mark Brucker, Keith Gojda Officers: French II — Jenny Bragg, Pres.; Amy Williams, V.P.: Marybeth Teeters, Sec. Our name represents that in its meaning, Jesus And Me. The J.A.M. Session gives students an opportunity to meet and talk over daily problems and issues. The answers to these questions are found in the Bible. Students have looked at the issues of music, dating, love, and most of all, living for the Lord. The club has also reached out into the community by giving Thanksgiving baskets to people in need. (Malachi 3:6) Times change and people change, but the one thing that remains ever constant is Cod's Word and His Love for His children. Our school endeavors to prepare our children in all areas of their lives. We strive to educate them, to train them physically, to enhance their social amenities, to strengthen them emotionally and to guide them spiritually. As Paul says, And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. (I Cor. 13:13) In these changing times it is imperative that we get back to the basics of studying Cod's Word and sharing His Love with oth- ers. Love is the key that unlocks many doors. Let's teach our children that God loves us and we are to share His Love with others. ACS wants each child that attends our school to have the key to abundant eternal life, Jeses Christ, and all the keys that education affords in order to unlock the many doors to his future. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:6-7 This year Augusta Christian bids farewell to a man who has been a faithful servant of A.C.S. for seven years. Though we will miss Headmas- ter Richard Machovec, we have been blessed by the Lord with Mr. Don Schearer as our new Headmaster. The time has come to pass the baton, but the race still goes on. We are thankful for what the Lord has done for A.C.S. through Mr. Machovec, and we look forward to many more blessings under the administra- tion of Mr. Schearer. sco that he may be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do. Let no man therefore despise him: but conduct him forth in peace ... I Corinthians 16:10-11 103 WE, THE SENIOR CLASS OF NINETEEN HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-TWO, OF AUGUSTA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, BEING OF SOUND (?) MIND AND MEMORY, WITHOUT MENTAL RESERVATION OR PURPOSE OF EVASION, DO PUBLISH AND DECLARE THIS TO BE OUR LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT: Phil Wahl leaves his football ability to Kenneth Burch; his dislike of basketball to Ron Saxon; his position of driver of the Wahl family school bus to Eric Snyder or Bridget Wahl, if they ever get their driver's licenses; his scholastic ability to the whole football team, so they can be eligible to play next year. Cindy Draughon leaves her perfect attendance to Christy O'Connor; her upper locker to Linda Blatt; her inside connection with the Booster Club to Sparky — let him shovel popcorn from now on; and finally, her infamous nickname, Dragon, to A.C.S., so it may carry on forever. Fran Rickards leaves Dana and jana to anyone who can tell them apart; and her bottle of perfume and ladylike manner to Bridget Wahl. Donna Stroup leaves her figure of Miss Wiggins to Amy Boggus; her locker combination to Tom Volarath — 20-11-5; her singing ability to Lynn Scott. Ken Bugg leaves his basketball ability to Keith Gojda and Mark Brucker; his ability to keep the car between the ditches to Darrell Todd and Steve Maggard; his charisma and ability to chase women to Kevin Broadwater. Cindy Haley leaves her vast knowledge of bullfrogs and West Indian leaf cockroaches to Kathy Davies and Smitty Hendrix. Susan Darden leaves her patience in art to David Sims; her driving ability to anyone who can match it; her cashier's job at Bi-Lo to Felisa James. Syndee Fredericks leaves the trunk of her car to Kim Fuller; and all of her old Biology notebooks to anyone on their second time around. Susan Darden and Syndee together leave their chorus uniforms to anyone who will wear them. Wayne McKenney leaves his ability to fix tea to Beth Sammons; his ability to catch the football to Tony Duggan; his great height to Kevin Broadwater; his skiing ability to Darrell Todd; his spelling ability to Matt Trainor. Lesia Bishop leaves her sportsmanship to Missy Parham; her ability to tell Dana and Jana apart to Mrs. Rogers; her ability to show horses to Bridget Wahl. Lisa Snoddy leaves her ability to play basketball to Nina Inman; Darrell Todd to anyone who wants him; a request that Marybeth, Amy, Smitty, and Keith Gojda remember her and her car (Betsy); her position as one of Sparky's Angels to Missy Parham. Lesia Bishop and Lisa Snoddy together leave their coaching ability to anyone who will take it. They would also like to say goodbye to Mrs. Gray, hopefully for the last time. Lisa Hill leaves her convertible to Steve Maggard, so he can let his hair blow in the wind. The entire Senior Class leaves Mrs. Wheeler her podium, exactly where she left it.
