PRESIDENTS MESSAGE Mr Charlie B. Whitney President Finance Committee Chairman It is a real privilege to serve on the Board of Directors of Augusta Christian Schools. Phis school has always placed the laird first and the service that we have rendered to the school has been rendered to the Lord Jesus Christ with the purpose of winning young lives to Him. and helping those who know Him to grow in grace and the knowledge of Him. The school's every effort has been first to emphasize the basis of salvation, then to give each young person the best academic teaching that he could find anywhere. These can prepare each one for a life that will honor the laird and make each an outstanding citizen for our country which has forgotten the living God. The greatest asset of our nation is the youth of our land. We older folks should make every effort to give them a perspective of putting first things first. First, of course, is salvation, then a Christian education with eyes fixed upon the Lord Jesus. Thus America could return to the days in which it recognized the living God as its Head and the things of the world as secondary. Your boardand faculty hope the parents of the school will join with us in our efforts and desires and that our young people will be brought into this sort of thinking. As a result, the problems of our land decisions of worldliness and sins-could be healed. This school was born from the Lord, has been maintained by Him. received every need supplied by Him. and is blessed in many unusual ways by Him. To us that’s the reason it is His and is called a miracle school. Mrs. Miriam Bryngelson Secretary Publicity Committee Chairman Mr Eugene Gojda Athletics Committee Booster Club Mr. Kobert D. “This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.” I Timothy 3:1. “Seekest thou great things for thyself? Seek them not.” Jeremiah 45:5. Aspiration to leadership is an honorable ambition but will not always be accepted by all Christians without a measure of reservation. Several years ago our school needed a leader; we were seeking a lady to become the Vice-Principal of our elementary school. Through careful prayer and interviews, the Lord settled our minds to select Mrs. Pat Goodwin. Why? Was it because of her experience-no; because of her credentials-no; because of her seeking the position-no. As important as these qualities are, we considered something greater. We selected Mrs. Goodwin because she realized the two passages at the head of this tribute. She desired to be effective in the service of the Lord and realized the high potential of her life. Mrs. Goodwin, through the years, has proved her true aspiration. Never have her ambitions been self-centered; never “great things for thyself’ but always pointedly exposed and stigmatized unworthy motivation. For this she has earned the respect and love from parents, students, faculty, staff and particularly the board of directors and administration of Augusta Christian Schools. The 1980-81 Yearbook Staff proudly dedicates the elementary portion of this book to Mrs. Pat Goodwin, Elementary Principal.
