Thank the Lord for leading us, one step at a time. 2 Richard A. Machovec, Headmaster One Step at a Time is a most appropriate theme for our 1977-78 yearbook. The wise writer of Proverbs states, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Following Christ, one step at a time, is not without obstacles. The way at times may be slippery . . . we're allowed to take one step forward and slide back two. On other occasions the path appears unsurmountable, cluttered with rocks, thorns and deep ravines; yet we follow and the way is made clear. The Lord allows our school to travel both the freeways and footpaths of life, but our real challenge comes when we lean on Him in the dark valleys of our school's progress. After three years of trodding the school's path, I have met many wonderful people traveling in the same direction. Some were taking steps long before I came, some came at the same time I d'd, others came later. To all - board members, staff, faculty, parents, students and friends of ACS that have been acknowledging the Lord and following Him, THANK YOU. To those that feel our path has been meandering - please be patient, God is not finished with ACS yet. We will succeed! In His Service, Board Of Directors Left to right: Mrs. Miriam Bryngelson, Secretary; Mr. Jim Prestwood, Transportation Chairman; Mr. C.B. Whitney, Chairman of Finance Committee; Mr. Bob Halvorsen (seated) Trust Fund Chairman; Mr. Troup Morton, Treasurer and Education Committee; Mr. Jennings Murphy, Chairman of the Board. Insets: Miss Leila Havird, Education Committee; Dr. Mike Murphy, Athletic Committee; Dr. Claud Boyd, Publicity, (not shown) History records the events of the past that affect us in the present. This yearbook shows that our past foundation was firmly built so that we could arrive at the glorious present - graduating our first Senior Class. With one step at a time, we have added a grade with the proper curriculum and preparation so that our graduates may accomplish what they desire for their future. Ruth M. Lewis Mrs. Ruth M. Ken Norris, Athletic Director 1977 has been the foundation of a building football program and the second and strongest step of our Varsity Boys' Basketball program. As ACS grows physically with the existance of a football field, a softball field and new gymnasium in the immediate future, the Athletic program is destined to grow as well. Next year ACS will be involved in a Junior Varsity Football program and we hope to build a much stronger Junior Varsity Basketball program for both boys and girls, with the expectation of preparing our younger teams to maintain the strength of our present Varsity teams. We are growing day by day as our physical facilities are expanded and it is up to each and every family to support our school to build our infant Athletic program into one that will be respected statewide. Proverbs 22:6 These words are familiar instructions from God's word and we are grateful you have chosen ACS to be part of the training time of your child. God has supplied us with a dedicated faculty and many enthusiastic, energetic students. Together they are making progress in many areas of growth. If you were to take a quick tour of the hall at math time you could be introduced to the 20 family, learn the 8 subtraction combinations, go over the metric conversions and learn how to construct an equalateral or isosceles triangle! With the spiritual, academic and social training the students are receiving, surely they will be better able to face the world tomorrow with greater confidence and assurance, then together we can say, I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep ... and sing Let's just praise the Lord!
