Headmaster Is there hope for the American system of education? Can the lack of discipline, poor methods, and weak standards produce the quality of educa- tion that parents desire for their children? Children who need to be taught academic skills, patriotism and hard work are growing up in an educational system which says that the whole of education is “life adjustment”. God has raised up Augusta Christian School and other Christian schools through-out this great country of ours. Many factors have affected the growth of these schools: poor academics, drugs, busing, the taking of prayer out of the public school, lax morals, and no discipline. However, the underlying basis for the Christian school is not found in these weaknesses but based on the Bible — the absolute Truth. We need your prayers, support and encouragement. In the dedication of the 1976-77 high school section of the SWORD, we go once again to one of our faculty members. This woman has been teaching at Augusta Christian for four years, and has gained love and respect from students as well as the other faculty members. She is a firm believer in quality education and puts forth a very successful effort in teaching eighth and eleventh grades American History, and the ninth grade Civics class. Aside from this, she is also a very fluent French teacher. Without her we may not have ever known why this is a great country in which to live, or why, even we as students, also play a role in government and society today. When we go out into the world on our own, in just a few years, we know she will be praying for us always. We the students, staff, faculty, parents and Board of Directors dedicate our 1976-77 SWORD to Mrs. Ruth M. Lewis. 7

Vice-Principal, Elementary The Lord has blessed our Kindergarten program until our “cup runneth over”. Our Kindergarten classes for 3 and 4 year olds are in the new Wee Care building. Kindergarten 5 and grades one thru five in the elementary building with the sixth grade in the high school building. Each day is begun with a Bible story and verses, choruses and hymns following the Bible theme. Kindergartners learn a verse for each letter of the alphabet. Each grade has various passages for monthly learning. These verses are ones that can prove meaningful in daily living. We encourage our students to achieve to their potential by following a structured academic curriculum. This gives opportunity for in-depth drill in the basic areas of reading, writing and arithmetic.
