Top to bottom: Quarterback Tommy Kramer had a rough season, Chris Dole- man (56) and Neal Guggemos (41) had a great season, summer practice at Mankato, linebacker Scott Studwell, and fans eagerly watch- ing practice. One phrase could sum up the Vikings season — the Quarter- back Shuffle. Tommy Kramer and Wade Wilson shared the Quarterback position. The players went on strike for three weeks and the replacement “scab team lost all three games. Through a strange twist, the Vikings entered post-season play as an NFC wild card team. They soundly defeated the Saints and the 49'ers in surprise victories. But their season ended one game short of the Superbowl with a loss to the Redskins. Overall, the Vikings proved that hard work and determination can lead you to many places. . . . Dreams 7

Building In October 1987 — Minnesota Twins fans witnessed a miracle when the Twins cap- tured the World Series against St. Louis in a dramatic seven game series. Grandslam ho- meruns by Kent Hrbek and Dan Gladden fueled the fire for the Twins series. Homer Hankies and series tickets were hot items. Names like Bruno. G- Man, Herbie and Kirby Puckett became household names. Augsburg has a special connection with the Twins. Athletic trainer Doug Nelson is also an assistant trainer for the Twins and had a part in the making of the dream. Top to bottom: A Twins home victory, the first game in the Detroit series M-8 D-5, center fielder Kirby Puckett, American League Championship se- ries MVP Gary Gaetti, and Homer Hanky Mania.
