Director Caca Smith Educational commissioner Brad Elliot ram commission The Program Commission this year was under the watchful eye of Caea Smith, She was assisted by Brad Elliot and Terry Rindahl, and Ross Berndt. Brad served as educational commissioner, Terry as Social Activities commissioner; and Rose planned films for the year. The group sponsored many activities for the year, some of these were dances, coffeehouses, and other such events. rX.c. For the first time in several years Augburg’s Religious Life Commission was headed by one person. Jan Nelsom. Jane was fortunate enough however to have a strong staff to work with. This staff had representatives from each religious group on campus. The RIC was able to bring in several well known performers such as. Doug Howell and Mike Monroe. The RIC also sponsored “Resurrection Week during April to help make us more aware of the world around us. 17

The year 1978-79 has many memorable events to be remembered by the 66 voice Augsburg choir. This was Dr. Saterens last year of directing the choir. As a teacher, conductor, and composer Leland B. Sateren has established himself as a major figure. His music is performed by choirs throughout the nation. The Augsburg choir, which he has directed for the past 29 years, has enjoyed international acclaim as an outstanding college choral organization noted for its tremendous discipline, fine tone, and technical virtuosity in the face of an extremely adventurous and demanding repertoire. This year the choir toured the west coast during the monthj)f January. during the month o L-H Dr Quanbeck and Dr Torstenson traveled with the group »the choir studied either Cities of the Far W«T or 'Religions of the Far West The choir performed 23 concerts with enthusiastic responses from audiences and critics in the Dakotas. Colorado. 4nd M.nnesota The tour ended with the Sateren Recognition Concert held 4t Orchestra Hall on Feb 3.1979 The Choir also acquired bright new maroon velvet robes given through the generosity of the Choir Alumni, parents, and fnends.
