DIG IN! The F. F. A. s supervised farming programs in 1962 gave them a gross income of $106, 950 with a net income per member of $889.64. The projects completed included work with swine, crops, poultry, dairy and beef cattle and many other projects. GET YOUR CAR CHECKED HERE! A Sma OPERATION STEAM CLEANER! In cooperative activities the F.F.A. has con- ducted 28 com test plots and bought and sold $5, 600 worth of such things as seed potatoes, garden seeds, farrowing stalls and similar items. Also they own a fanning mill, steam cleaners, movie projector and 15 similar items which are available for use in the com munity. The F.F.A. served the community in many ways. They placed 794 com harvest pledges and stickers, cut back com at six intersections, participated in 36 weed control projects, and 52 pest control projects. Another important community service was checking 200 cars for safety features. CONGRATULATIONS TO A GOOD LEADER Leadership is another important activity in F.F.A. At the State Conven- tion, in Sioux City, they earned Gold in Farm Electrification, Farm Safety, and the Chapter Exhibit. They earned Silver in Dairy, Extemporaneous Speaking, Farm Mechanics, Farm Poultry and Corn Harvest Safety. Howard Madsen and John Andersen received their Iowa Farmer Degrees. One mem- ber sang in the State Chorus. 24
