Band Leads Parades, Pep Pictured above and below in two familiar formations is the Audubon High School marching band. From the beginning of school in the fall until the last freezing football game in the winter, the band makes its presence known at all home games and at various parades, both here in Audubon and in surrounding localities. In October the band competed, as it has in past years, in the state marching band contest. This year’s rating, a II, was earned at Greenfield.

What basketball game would be complete without the accompanying tunes of the pep band? Responsible for this year’s musical background were: FRONT ROW: Doug Miller, John Sonksen, Sharlot Johansen, Donna Ruddy, Barb Nielsen, Rosanne Barentsen, Jane Murray, Sharon Willeson, Carolyn Mulford, Thelma Neilsen. BACK ROW: Don Mortensen, Mr. Place, Lyle Eiben, Bonnie Carlson, Gary Meshek. Patty Mendenhall, Shirley Zinke, Don Linn. Majorette of the 1958 Wheeler Band was Carolyn Brue. She was followed by two high-stepping twirlers, Barb Nielsen and Patti Miller, and three senior majorettes, Vernette Nissen, Deanna Schmidt, and Leota Winther. Bringing up the rear were LaVonne Clems en, Donis Krauel, and Kay Anderson, our flag-twirling marchers.
