NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY Early in the school year of 1933-39, the faculty, having been approached by Miss Kramer as to the organization of a chapter of the National Honor Society in Audubon High School, became enthusiastic over the idea. After M'ss Kramer received instructions from the National Councl at Chifago, she it to the National Council appointed a faculty committee to draw up a constitution and submit for approval. Soon Audubon High School was granted a charter and became one of the almost twentyfthree hundred chapters in the association. There followed the serious and delicate problem of electing students into the Society. The teachers were given a list of eligible students, whose eligibility was based on a scholarship attainment of 871611: or better. Then these students were rated on character, se.vice, and leadership charts. The faculty council studied these charts carefully and determined a composite score on the fourpoint scale of scholarship, character, service and leadership for each pupil. The individual composite scores were arranged on the basis of the number of teachers scoring a given indi- vidual and his percentage of average. 'l hose seniors who appeared in the upper twelve per cent of the senior eligibles and those juniors in the upper seven per cent of the junior eligibles were elected. Fir-ft Row, Lell lo Right: W.
