TIGERMANIA 86 Tigermania 1986 included numerous ac- tivities and provided Auburn students with an exciting and memorable week. Several UPC committees collaborated to book con- certs, schedule films, and organize the week's many functions. Homecoming was a week that included a football game, many special events, and most importantly, it was a day for Auburn alumni to return to campus and recall their college days. Reminiscing is what Homecoming was all about, and 1986 was no exception. Dye-hard Auburn alumni returned to the site of their glorious college days on November 8 and remembered the thrill of victory at Jordan-Hare. The success and the apparent happiness of these Auburn graduates served as inspiration and motivation for current Auburn students. One certain group of alumni served as a very special example to all. For the Class of 1936, Homecoming this year marked their 50th reunion. ln addition to the festivities that were held for the alumni, Homecoming week was packed with activities for the students. The week began with a concert by The Newboys on the Student Activities lawn. Comedian and juggler Michael Davis held shows for two consecutive evenings and provided hilarious entertainment for all .. Despite the rain on Wednes- day the outdoor activities were not rained out - they were simply moved inside. War Eagle cafeteria became the location for Goot caricatures. Excitement began building as the end of the week grew near. Ballots were cast for the new Miss Homecoming and a pep rally on Thursday consisted of comedy, fireworks, and seniors's last remarks. Final preparations for Saturday were made Friday night as most of Auburn partied with Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reefer Band. Saturday afternoon was the finale to an incredibly busy Homecoming week. Spirits were high as Auburn prepared to obliterate the Cin- cinnati Bearcats. TERTAINME Homecoming announced, the 1936 Auburn football team was recognized, and Shelly Murphy was crowned Miss Homecoming. Homecoming concluded with many vic- torious celebrations. The week recounted old memories and produced some new ones. Above all, Homecoming 1986 gave both students and alumni a chance to share their strong feelings and deep emotions for Auburn University.
