hen it came time to decide the book's theme, l drew a blank. The Way We Were, Lifestyles and Spirit on the Rise were themes that just didn't capture, in my opinion, the specialness that make up Auburn and this year. So this book doesn't have one. instead, the staff and myself have attempted to simply describe Auburn - just as it is, without trying to mold this unique campus and untypical year into a phrase or a few trite words. My continuing mental project this year was asking people if there was one word that could sum up the meaning of Auburn to them. Only rarely would l get two responses the same. Rather, it seemed everyone had their own special place, feeling or tradition they would use to describe their feelings about Auburn. The opening and closing of the 1983 Glomerata use just a few of the words that have been used to describe Auburn to me this year. We have attempted to capture the true meaning of these descriptions A U B U R N through large photographs and interesting copy in a bold UNIVERSITY if We hope you enjoy our -L-V'-, attempt - the 1983 1j,f j Glomerata.
