i, how ya' doin' The phrase is the standard greeting as you walk across campus. Even people you've never seen before find time to mumble the words with a cheerful grin as you walk through campus. Friendliness has always been thought of as part of the South's hospitality and Auburn is no exception. ln fact, Auburn exemplifies the idea of Southern hospitality. The slower pace of campus enhances the friendliness. People are never too busy to stop and chat between classes. Auburn's friendliness is contagious. The instinct to smile and greet someone is with you, even away from campus. When thousands of Tiger fans visited Orlando for the Tangerine Bowl, a nod and a quick War Eagle were the standard greeting for anyone in orange and blue. Try it sometime and before you know it, you'll find yourself answering, Fine, and you? t K , 5 XY uburn's spirit is everywhere. It's spirit is the special quality that sets it apart from any other campus. lt's the bond that holds the students together, before and after graduation. The spirit is most easily seen at a football game or basketball game where thousands of Auburn supporters gather to push their Tigers on to victory or console them in loss, for losing proudly is a part of that special spirit, too. It shows up when Lionel James runs 80 yards for a touchdown or when the Tigers fall short in a last minute drive. The Auburn spirit surfaces in less obvious places as well. lt can be seen in an alum making donation to the Generations Fund. It can be seen in a professor standing up for his beliefs, or leaving because of them.
