Pershing Rifles in an honorary military for basic cadets of the AFIU) I'C Girps. Pershing Rifles w as founded in 1894 at the I’nivcrsity of Nebraska by the late General John J. Pershing to promote “esprit dc corps among the cadet corps. Today it is the foremost military fraternity for basic cadets in the I nired States. Pershing Rifles was founded at Auburn on 12 November, 1958 as Squadron Ci-4. with 25 members. Today Pershing Rifles has a strength of 4 men and 24 honoran members. This car, Pershing Rifles has scheduled a full slate of activities and events. I he organization also sponsors the AT RO I C color guard, rifle team, and Air Police. Regular Sunday night session of uburns Ncwnian (dub Newman Club I r.» r to Rtour: .Mrs. Mary Lee, Mrs. Barbara Dooley, and Mrs. Lillian Ziadch (Chairlady) arc three members of the newly organized Ncwnian Club Auxiliary who act as hostesses at the Club's meetings. fhe Newman Club located at Sacred I lean Center, 23-4 Fast Magnolia vc., is the Catholic organization at Auburn, provides the Catholic student with the opportunity of developing religiously, intellectually, and socially. As pan of its overall function, the Newman Club conducts religious discussions, provides distinguished speakers and entertains with periodic social affairs. Meetings are held each Sunday evening at 7:00 P. M. The Center houses a library available to every student as well as rooms with I V and stereo. Mere Theology classes are conducted each Tuesday night at 7:00 P. M. In addition to daily Mass nr 6:30 A. M. in Sacred Heart Church, a second daily Mass is held at 12:00 o’clock Noon for the convenience of the students. Father Joseph F. Konen. C.
