Lab work is an integral part of the engineer’s education' Auburn is proud of it’s largest school—Tin School of Engineering. It is rapidly developing into one of the best schools in the nation. The School of Engineering prepares students in all fields of engineering, management, and textile technology. It offers programs leading to a baccalaureate degree in Aeronautical Administration, Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering with Electric Power Option, Electrical Engineering with Communications Option. Engineering Physics, Industrial Management. Mechanical Engineering, Textile Chemistry, Textile Engineering, and Textile Management. The Departments of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering suffered a loss of accredida-tion in 1958. However, through the efforts of Dean Pumphrey and the generous contributions of alumni, it is hoped that accredidation will be regained by this year. When a student graduates from the School of Engineering, he not only knows the technical aspect of his chosen field, but also is prepared to enter into management or design if he chooses. In his first two years of engineering, a student gets a basic, but general education. His last two years are spent on specialization courses in his chosen field. However, in today’s world, specialization is not enough. More advanced knowledge is necessary. To meet this demand, a fifth year of work is offered leading to a Masters Degree. President. Bob Savage; Dean Fred H. Pumphrey School of Engineering
