Explosions of Diversity People are like fingerprints and snowflakes — no two are exactly alike. Auburn High School students prove this statement. AHS students dress differently, act differently, take different classes, and have different plans for the future. On almost any given day, a per- son could observe the diversifica- tion in the halls and in the class- rooms at Auburn High. One could hear students “hab- lando espanol ” in one classroom and discussing THE CATCHER IN THE RYE in the next. In yet another classroom, students are dissecting a pig, while across the hall, they are taking dictation in shorthand. Inside the classroom, a person could see a boy in shorts—in Janu- ary. Next to him is a girl in a mini skirt and high heels and hoop ear- rings. Behind her is a girl in a denim jacket, covered with pins, and jeans. On the jeans, she has drawn various figures, including a peace sign and an 88. In the hall a girl in a metallic green blouse and Christ- mas ornament earrings walks in front of a boy wearing purposely ripped jeans. Anyone could clearly see that AHS students truly EXPLODE WITH DIVERSITY. Bill Ervin and Tom Appelt are about to explode. Seniors DON'T show diversity in dressing by posing tor a picture in their senior signature t-shirts. 3

IN MEMORY OF Star Bright By: LuAnne Littlejohn I’d like to think That in the dark And endless sky Is a tiny star Twinkling brightly Among the millions Of others. And that this star Is Mike Seeing us laugh And laughing with us. Sparkling brighter Than any other star. And I’d like to think That he's not lonely Up there So very far away But that the others stars Keep him company As he watches over us. Isn't it nice To believe We have in common A very special star And wherever we go And however lonely We may feel We don’t need to be. Because close to our hearts Is Mike shining brightly Reminding us always That we’re never alone. Mike Christy Gerken Mike. Linda. Christy. Ed Gerken Mike, Scott.
