Students Show Spirit Dave Allen jumps to the finish line. As in past years, Auburn High School students celebrated Homecoming by participating in the cheerleader-sponsored Spirit Week. Dress up days, lunch-time activities, and a pep assembly highlighted the week. Each class competed for the Spirit Stick. The dress-up days were rich and famous day, paja- ma day, red, white, and blue day, pig-tail inside-out day, and the traditional blue and white day. A volleyball tournament be- tween the classes was played during lunch. The pep assembly included sleeping bag racing, marshmallow stuffing, and, of course, loud, excited cheering. Because they had the most members of their class dress up, showed the most spirit at the assembly, and won the volleyball tournament, the Seniors won the Spirit Stick. A Festive Week AHS Football players give the parade a thumbs up. W. Gadberry toots his horn in the parade. Volleyball players ham it up for the camera. T. Hawkins. D. Dolenc, T. Buck, J. Dudley show off the Sr. float. A festivity of excitement could describe the 1987 Homecoming parade. In honor of the bicenten- nial anniversary of the United States Constitution, the parade theme was Patriotism . Local businesses, clubs, high school students decorated their floats in red, white, and blue. The band, di- rected by Becky Kemp, marched in top form. As in previous years, there was a large turnout to view the parade. Cheerleaders take lime out from chants to give their special look.
