Foreigners Explode with Diversity They are from different countries and speak different languages — they are Auburn’s four foreign ex- change students. Mercedes Arroyo, who is staying with the Neumanns, is from Lerida, Spain. She is very happy in the Unit- ed States and is even considering attending college here to study lan- guages. Jois Nigrisoli decided to come to the United States because she was bored.” How anyone could be bored in her hometown of Milan, Ita- ly, population, 1,500,000 is a mys- tery to many AHS students. Jois, however, is enjoying her stay with the Parolas. Christian Cremer is a native of Wegberg, a city that he says sees more action than Auburn. He is stay- ing with the Kemps and reports that he has learned much about himself while here. Francisco Escobar, from San- tiago, Chile, says that while he has been here, he has found that many things he had heard about Ameri- cans are not true. Francisco is living with the Trojahn family. Francisco Escobar, Christian Cremer, Mercedes Arroyo, and Jois Nigrisoli: the tour foreign exchange students tor the 1987 88 school year.

Dernier Cri “Le Dernier Cri”, French for the latest fashion, is a mini-magazine that focuses on the current fads at Auburn High School. Hemlines Skirts at Auburn High have gone to new lengths—long, mid, and the once-again popular mini. Steph Marsh wears her hair in a banana clip Burn Them or Buy Them? Banana clips are a controversial topic at Auburn High school. For those who are unfamiliar with ba- nana clips, they are banana shaped hair clips that hold the hair back in a pony-tail-like style. Since they became popular at AHS about two years ago, they have gained both many advocates and many enemies. Others agree with fashion maga- zines that proclaim that banana clips are definitely out”. Some girls even detest the clips so much that they have banana clip burning parties. Will banana clips soon go the way of bell-bottoms and clogs, or will they remain popular at AHS?
