Chris Courty Missy Hill PROPHECY — THE YEAR 2000 It is March 2, 2000 and famous Americans are converging on Auburn for the 15 year reunion of the class of 1985. The celebration is to take place at the gala reopening of Shammies by two of the Alumni, Rob Sergent and Joe Wortley. Rob and Joe are not alone in their ef- forts, however. Vic Devos of Devos Construction, Inc. renovated the building. Monica Herlan and her neat and tidy decorator company had charge of interior restoration. Blossom Incorporated, run by Mary Bloome and Mike Ludek, supplied the floral arrangements. Chris Barnard brought the cake. The evening's entertainment is provided by J.R. Crocker and his band Talk About Me.” The first group to ar- rive is the alumni turned faculty. Toni Nardi is now the assistant coach to Don Thornton, a position he had always wanted. Kelly Ketchum took Mrs. Funk's job as grade school teacher cheerleading sponsor. Doug Baker teaches a crash course in driver education. Dave Lewis, innovator of the homework-free education system teaches history and English. Charles Patterson now teaches Sociology and his students eat it up — book and all. Kris Ketchum runs the educational day care for pre-schoolers. The next group to arrive is the agricultural set — Kenny Norris, John Bolletta, and David Woodside. With them is Chris Courty, night watchman for Kenny's cornfield. Suddenly two limos pull up to the door bringing the group from California. One carries Jeff Kaufman, the world's most famous gigolo, and his manager, Mike Galloway. Out of the other step starlets Steph Sandidge and Laura Harmon with their personal beautician, Lori Curtis, and their photographer, Tim Gravit. Laura Harmon has recently finished filming Splash II. Next from New Hampshire come Machelle Woods, co-coordinator of Runels Wood camp, and her two top counselors. Crystal Conkle is in charge of arts and crafts, while Maureen Corlas is in charge of recreation, and captain of the bowling team. A rumble is heard outside as a Honey Express Bus pulls into the parking lot driven by the owner of the company, Kristy Meyer. Inside the bus are the alumni from Florida. From NASA come physicist, Missy Hill and top astronaut, Susan Hoose. Kristen Henkhaus, Keri Huff, Theresa Kelly, Renee Sutton, and Lori Tharp exit giggling and begin passing out V2 off coupons for a portrait from their Beach Bum Photography Co. Next off the bus is the class's members of the armed services: Dennis Williams, Todd McGill, Roberta Harris, and Geno Marchizza. Geno recently got recognition from the Navy for inventing a new scoring system for the underwater golf team. Following them is Eric Divjak, Doug LeConte, and Mike Sandidge, self-made soldiers who recently returned from Nicaragua. Kay Watkins is also with the Floridians. She owns a gas station and general store on Miami Beach. The next group to arrive is the business magnates: Daron Harden, The Garbage King, who took disposal nationwide, and Mike Beardon, co-owner of Wendy's Old-Fashioned Hamburgers, who sends word from his partner and brother Tim. Tim Miller, owner of Miller Brewing Company said he was pleased to see that they were serving his products. Scott Tish, president of Scottish Chocolates, follows with his secretary Tammy Bailey and her friends Jean Woodside, Shirley Shelton, and Tammy Wilson of the Wilton Wood Secretarial School. Stacy King enters next. She was noted National Soda Fountain Queen and is planning on opening her own chain of ice cream parlors called Dairy King. Another group of limos pulls into the parking lot bringing Auburn's members of the fashion world. Kevin Egts owns the Egts Marks the Spot Clothing stores for men featuring Calvin's Corner sportswear. Tim Housman is next. He designs clothes for rock stars all over the world. Sue Page and Phillip Rogers enter together. She owns Sue Lorraine's Clothing Store for women and Phillip has his own line of designer eyewear. Bob Stowell is the next to arrive driving one of his collection of '69 Camaros. With him is his chief mechanic Kent Gracey. Mary Beth Buck, owner of Mary's Pharmaceuticals and Beth Hidlebaugh, podiatrist specializing in toe surgery, follow closely behind. Chris Moore is also with this group. He is the owner and instructor of a gun safety school near Springfield. Auburn's pro-sportsmen enter next. Bill Bird is the first doctor ever to play for a major league baseball team. Robert Edmiston now plays for the L A. Lakers. Dave Newberry, Lisa Karhliker, and Lisa Gillespie come in together. Dave is a championship Hacky-Saker and the girls are his personal cheerleaders. Last to arrive are new Chief of Police Steve Baseiwicz and Laura Abernathy. He found her driving aimlessly on the other side of town. Reminiscing and merrymaking at the party lasted for days like the party's predecessor — Wortleyfest.
