SENIOR PROPHECY As the alarm clock rings at 9:30 a.m. on the morning of June 1,1993, President Scott Harmon rises and goes to the window to check on the preparations for the reunion of the Class of ’83. He sees his private secretary, Lori Evitt, busily arranging tables in the Rose Garden on the White House Lawn. All too soon the guests begin to arrive. The first plane to arrive is from Dallas, Texas. Pres. Harmon rushes to greet his classmates, Rev. Rich Yasinski, Kindergarten teacher Kim Rash and her star pupil Tom Johnson (who finally passed cutting and pasting), and two of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, Karen Meidel and Christy Parks. No sooner had Pres. Harmon finished playing with Christy’s and Karen’s pom poms, than the plane from New York arrived. Leading the way was pilot Tom DuBois who flew them all down in the Supersonic jet he normally flies between N.Y. and Paris. His passengers included newest Wall Street tycoon and recently discovered G.Q. model, Jim Stowell. Not far behind were high-fashion designer, Elaine Edmiston-Sergent and her husband, N.Y. Jets fullback, Gary Sergent, followed by Elaine’s models Tami (Bambi) Bergman and Caryn Corine. Of course Tami and Caryn never travel without their personal beauty advisor, Kristy Stamer. Last but not least from N.Y., dressed in hot pink glitter from head to toe, the newest solid gold dancers, Pattie Castleman and Sandy Stufflebeam. As a maid passed around martinis, everyone stood back to watch the plane coming in from Los Angeles. It seemed that quite a few Auburnites had flocked to sunny California after graduation. There was Erik Estrada look alike and latest addition to the CHiP’s squad, Harry Buck; Hy Hunt and Drew Hummel, the latest Chippendale’s male stripping sensations; and Scott Shepard, Rick Kerns, Eric Heffernan, Dave Patton, Mike McCarty, Brian Ferguson, Alan Lebel who were recently put in charge of a federally funded drug testing center outside of L.A. Last off the plane from L.A. was Dr. Elliott Mohler, star of the soap opera “General Animal Hospital” and his three nursing sidekicks: Donna Boyer, Vicki Castleman, and Lisa Galloway. The party is momentarily disrupted by the arrival of Ms. Lisa Las in a silver Porsche 924 with vanity plates and a sun roof. She was accompanied by Troy Hogarth whom she had picked up hitch-hiking along Pennsylvania Avenue. Next to arrive by limousine was Secretary of State Dawn Henkhaus. She had been appointed by Pres. Harmon due to her excellent knowledge of foreign policy and culture. The Chicago plane was right on schedule carrying Julie and Carla Grider, Co-editors of Playgirl Magazine; Pat Flannigan, flanker for the Chicago Bears, recently honored as the shortest player in NFL history. The crowd fell silent when from out of the plane came six men dressed distinguishedly in black and carrying violin cases, followed by a giggling lady in red. It seems that these six classmates, whom were recognized as Rich Barnhill, Todd Dudley, Joe Heren, Gavin Neumann, Mark Gardner, and Bob Carrigan, had become top hit men for the Chicago Mafia. Julie Hoose was their “leading lady”. The last guest from the Windy City was Mr. Universe himself, Eric Eastham, wearing his leopard skin bikini trunks. The only foreign plane, from Sydney, Australia, was due to arrive any time. The classmates asked each other what surprises it would contain. It wasn’t long before their questions were answered. First off was the famous author Alice Harbour and her secretary Re Herlan, who had deciphered Alice’s shorthand. Next came Butch Garrison and Mike Crider who have opened their own Marlboro franchise in downtown Sydney and who give inhaling lessons to kangaroos. Bringing up the rear was Chris Knoepfle and Jeff VanStrien who design and build bridges in the outback. The next plane to arrive was carrying the group from the old home town. First off was local rock sensation, Brad Schroeder, followed quietly by Pam who spends most of her time at home on the farm. Following them, blowing her whistle, was the new girl’s basketball coach for Auburn, Missy Bell, who has slightly more hair than the previous one. She was followed by filthy rich sanitation engineer, John Harden, who has taken over his father’s business. Next to arrive from Auburn are Rhonda Day, Marge Manship, and Rena Crafton who own and operate Sunny Day’s Dry Cleaning. They were followed by Tonya Goodroe and Chris Mangold who have taken over the running of Harmon’s Office. Next to arrive from Auburn was the official photographer for the reunion, Joe Henn, who has taken over for Lee Curtis at AHS. Cindy Millburg was next to arrive, bringing with her the news that she had just been appointed head of the Department of Transporation. Last of the group from Auburn was Daphney Dineen bringing the entertainment from her combination roller-skating rink and duck farm where she spends her spare time teaching the ducks to roller skate. The last group to arrive is from Denver, Colorado. First of this group is Dan Dixon who is working for the forestry service replanting the eastern slopes of the Rockies (it’s a big job!). He is followed by Cindy Ervin who is the head of the Department of Engineering in Colorado. Arriving behind Cindy is Kathy Meyer who is currently teaching at the Colorado school for the deaf. Pres. Harmon took a quick count and found that only four of our classmates were missing. There was a disturbance caused by the arrival of a telegram. Pres. Harmon read to the crowd that Beth Bateman and Cathy Chambers were busily climbing Mt. Everest — while intoxicated — to set a new world’s record. That explained two of the missing four, but no one could figure out who the other two were. Suddenly, we heard someone yell: “I’m still fifteen points from an A.” Then we knew; it was Garry Bouvet, a now famous basketball coach at Notre Dame. There was still one person missing. All of the sudden, Pres. Harmon remembered the call he had received. Angie Miller had a dentist appointment. 40 THE CLASS OF 1983 1st row: Caryn Corine; Lisa Las; Daphney Dineen; Chris Mangold; Cindy Millburg; Pattie Castleman; Dawn Henkhaus; Karen Meidel; Christy Parks; Tonya Goodroe; Ruthmarie Herlan. 2nd row: Carla Grider; Vickie Castleman Gardner; Lori Evitt; Pam Brackebusch; Kristy Stamer; Tami Bergman; Angie Miller; Margie Manship; Cindy Ervin; Lisa Galloway. 3rd row: Julie Grider; Alice Harbour; Kathy Meyer; Sandy Stufflebeam; Rena Crafton; Cathy Chambers; Missy Bell; Donna Boyer; Julie Hoose. 4th row: Scott Harmon, Dan Dixon; Elliot Mohler; Rhonda Day; Elaine Edmiston; Beth Bateman; Tom DuBois; Jeff VanStrein; Butch Garrison. 5th row: Joe Henn; John Harden; Rich Barnhill; Eric Eastham; Tom Johnson; Gary Sergent; Pat Flannigan; Jim Stowell; Hy Hunt. 6th row: Rick Kerns; Harry Buck; Mike Crider; Rich Yasinski; Brad Schroeder; Mark Gardner; Todd Dudley; Bob Carrigan; Joe Heren 7th row: Chris Knoepfle; Drew Hummel; Garry Bouvet; Scott Sheppard; Gavin Neumann; Alan Lebel; Dave Patton; Eric Heffernan. “THE PROMISE OF TOMORROW LIES IN WHAT WE DO TODAY” 41 Valedictorian Elliott Mohler Salutatorian Pam Brackebusch 42 I just love roses. “Scott! Co-Editors Mrs. Bailey — Sponsor Yearbook started the year with no money. This can be a slight problem. Through book sales, booster lines, student boosters, key chains and a cake raffle at one of the basketball games, by the end of the year we were rolling in dough!! This has been a very good year. The staff have been very co-operative and have gotten their work done. (With the exception of the April deadline) Our editors this year have given free- ly of their time to get the book done by coming in during study halls, and early Thursday mornings — surely no one will miss the meetings at 7:30 A.M. We have captured or tied for conference championships in every sport. The Volley- ball team, with a 9-1 conference record, were co-champs, as were the football team, 6-1, and the basketball team, 9-1. In track, both the boys, 4-0, and the girls, 4-0, cap- tured the conference meet and the triangu- lar trophy. Baseball also captured the con- ference with a 8-0 record. The only excep- tion was girl’s basketball, simply because they have no conference. Our emblem? VOLLEYBALL A BASEBALL K E TRACK B FOOTBALL L L The members of the AHS boys basketball team made a little boy’s dream come true when they announced him as their 1 fan one evening in January. Geoff Lange was all smiles as the varsity boys gave him a T-shirt declaring him the 1 fan along with a basketball auto- graphed by the team.
