-1981 End Of Today Beginning Of Tomorrow A Pocket Friend A special look and we know why The tasks we've shared, we cared to try. Someone like you I'm proud I've known. Such deep concern you've always shown. Responsible, oh that's you too! When in a pinch, I can count on you. When others come with all their needs. It's with your heart you're there to lead. Oh, space at times fills up your head. It makes me smile when you turn red. Because I know you're quite sincere. Though air is there, your heart is here. Teasing me, I surely know. Is just your way to help me grow. Patiently, you are strong. You stand by me when I am wrong. The 1980-81 Year- book Staff proudly dedicates Beginnings to Mrs. Phyllis Bailey. She has spent many hours of hard work, not only as a faculty member, but as advi- sor for the yearbook staff. We thank Mrs. Bailey for all the un- derstanding and pa- tience she has shown, and especially for be- ing a friend. Many times when things get tough. When you're sure you've had enough. Be assured my pocket friend, I still care, please don't give in. If we had met when I was ten. Imagine what good friends we'd been. I see it now, pure as a breeze, The beauty that pure friendship frees. And last, not least, my special friend, I give to you the rainbow's end. There you'll find not wealth in gold. But happiness and joy untold. A pocket place, a pocket friend, The joys we've shared will never end. As times goes by and we must part, I'll keep you in the pocket of my heart. A Kaiser 3 •Goodbye Old Friends The books are stacked And away in their place. Things are slowing To a much calmer pace. The halls are empty. The floors shine again. Joy fills the air. The halls say remember when? 4 We've written our last paper Till the wee hours of dawn. We've seen the last star As we gazed from the lawn. The cookies are gone. The ones that we made. The season is over. The games have been played. 5 The dances are passed. The streamers torn down, he days have gone by us s we turned around. The bells have stopped ringing. The work is all done. We're left with just pictures Of all of our fun. Favorites: Pastimes: 1. Party 2. Date Cruisen 3. Listen to stereo 4. Watch TV 5. Go to a movie 6. Be with friends Now there are just memories Of sun-filled skies. Of laughter-filled moments. Of wondering why. Of hoping for pleasure In the days yet ahead. Of remembering faces And what friends have said. A. Kaiser Rock 'n' Roll STAFF Board Members: Seated L to R. Jeannette Cameron, Jim Marshall, Joe Powell. Though the team had a losing season it was a good experience. Mr. Lewis was happy with the perfor- mance of this year's lettermen. Rod Stauffer, Dan Marshall, Jim Yagow, and Stewart Nuckols. Coach Lewis worked with a few beginners, Mitch Ruger, Tom Johnson, and James Moore, which proved to be helpful. Junior Dan Marshall received the MVP and low medalists awards with a 39 average. Marshall will be returning with Johnson, Yagow, Nuckols, and Moore and hope to have a better season. The team had a frustrating district as they fin- ished 11th and 8th at the Carlinville In- vitational. The team finished on a good note as they beat the skillful faculty in a grudge match. 57 Varsity Volleyball - Girls Count Too 1st row-L to R-D. Ketchum, C. Dudley, A. Dolenc, C. Bates, 2nd Row- A. The A.H.S. graduating class of '81 is holding the event in memory of many past C.C.C.'s. John McKenzie along with Damon Rothert. Mitch Ruger, and Brian Rector are first to arrive in a Busch truck which was undoubtedly hijacked from Shammy's parking lot. Close behind the Busch Brigade is that world famous new wave band, Peach Fuzz featuring Rob Cameron on Bongo's, Mickie Walker on electric flute, and Danda Tish on the synthesizer. Yes, it looks as though the entertainment for this event will be top rate. Rick Meidel, who incidentally owns a chain of dance studios known as Ace Cannons School of Dance, has brought along his troup of performers to dazzle us with fancy footwork. His talented students include Trudy Rigney, Jamie Bold, Lamma McClelland. Lisa Yagow and Deb Thompson who have appeared in Broadway shows such as The Disco Nightmare and Disco Away and Leave Me Alone. Tim Howard. Guy Hunt, and Jim Sergent have taken time out of their busy football schedule to join us. Even though it is that off season, this trio is keeping busy by advertising everything from baby powder to plugging beer and underwear. In his spare time, Tim Hemberger promotes Right Guard and Fruit of the Loom. Jim Chambers has become Howard Cosell's protege along with his sidekick Linda Brandon. They have covered every sports event from football to Tiddlywinks. Dee Dee Ramsey is now cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. Carla Harbour has become Auburn's first female principal along with guidance counselor Amy Yasinski. They have done away with the obsolete demerit system, and replaced it with a new, experimental punishment — locking deserving students in Dave Carter's old P.E. locker and playing old Messmore announcements! What cruel and unusual punishment! Sharlene Millburg has taken the late Donna Goodroe's office position which entitles her to the usual fringe benefits of the executive washroom where no STudent has ever ventured. McFarland Zone Center wouldn't release Dale Moose from his padded cell, but he sent his greetings to all of us losers anyway! Dave McNaught has taken up farming in the Columbian Mountains where only the richest most aromatic kind is grown! Terri Marshall, who is an attorney for Columbian Farmers, has helped Dave out of many jams. Todd Sutton and Marilyn Thomas have opened their own chain of designer jeans known as Levi Levi, Inc. where they have the only line of tie-dyed jeans in Central Illinois. Tom Cwik is currently ambassador to West Germany. Carmen Dudley and Annette Dolenc will compete in the 1992 Olympics as the U.S. Volleyball Team. They also appear on the front of Wheaties boxes. Luann Norris is back on vacation from Tahiti where she has been teaching black humor. Now sliding in on a cloud of dust, after gasing up at Baldwin's Mobile Station, is the publisher of Crash n' Burn magazine, Steve Castleman. Steve, whose many crash and burn experiences has made him a natural for the job. Munchies were supplied by the Dairy Queen, which is under the new management of the Driver sisters. Deb and Sue. Angie Chandler and Ketra Deschamps are still employed there and have finally gotten a raise! Sheila Sargeant, along with Bob Bartolazzi and Jerry Handy are now the co- owners of their own IGA chain. They have opened stores in Cimic and surrounding communities! Cups and various liquid refreshments were donated by the Double D. Inn owned by none other than Don DeHeve, who plans to open taverns nationwide. Jerry Burton, Ed Fedor, Mike Kolenich and Charles Estes are in the demolition business and were recently arrested by the Auburn P.D. for blowing up the water tower. When asked why? replied why not? Steve Plummer along with his assistant Martin BOmeke has opened establishments in five countries known as Plummers' Plumbing, who will unclog any kind of pipe you may own. Randy Bailey and Scott Brackebusch are owners of Baileybusch Farms where they raise only who knows what. Jean Burtle who is a registered nurse along with Carol Carlson are here to take care of any unconscious persons that the evening may produce. Ed Bass, who won the Nobel Prize for hybrid genetics, has merged with Bonnie Dowson's Dairy in breeding cows that give chocolate milk. What a break through!! Diana Ford and Joyce Pierce have become the first Springfield King's female hockey players. Even though their record is 0-23, they never seem to give up. It's probably that half-time strategy meeting with the rest of the team that keeps 'em going. Mark Heffernan made a special trip from Siberia where he has been waiting ten years for the second coming of Jim Baker. He claims to try to prove that there is life after the weekend. Sandy Grah and Dub Goodroe are now the GoodGrah Psychiatric service who try to help folks like Ed Gray who incidentally is the Professional Party candidate for President. What is that in the sky? Is it a bird? No it's Rod Stauffer in a Boeing 747. As soon as he learns how to land, he'll be down for the party! Ken Henkhaus has made KTC a nation-wide organization which is even expanding into different countries. KTC has become bigger than the Boy Scouts. Girl Scouts, and PTL combined! Jim, Jenny and Wesley Simpson have all moved to the Rocky Mountains where they live in a log cabin that Jim built. In the solitude of the mountains, Jim and Bear hunt wild animals. What Kind? It doesn't matter, says Jim, as long as you can skin em' . As the fire dies down, and the coals grow cold a car pulls up the drive. And through the early morning darkness we hear a voice saying. Am I late? No Shawn, you're about ten years early for the next Common Cause Reunion!!!!! 125 Mass Confusion Head up-Shoulders in- Chin out Yea Susie, your tassles still there There's Marilyn-Always practicing. Our Memories Of Yesterday Will Last A Lifetime 129 € -4- g 20 c0 20 a) B %— —9— The Songman's Return Don't think I can go with you. It's time to move on. If that's what you need to do. Then Songman, be gone. Life's only just starting On this, a new day. It's time for our parting. So be on your way. I understand growing And learning to be. I understand knowing That life must be free. Oh, I can remember The tunes we did sing. And I can remember The joy they did bring. Wherever you are My Songman, my friend. It can't be too far For my hand to lend. For you are a part Of my life, it is true. A place in my heart Is saved for you. So I'll say so long . My Songman, my friend, Goodbye would be wrong. For this is no end. You'll be with me always. In all of my rhymes. The memories will stay Through good and bad times.
