Future Homemakers Of America The Freshman welcome started off our new year in F.H.A. We had a lot of fun by playing golf at Knight's Recreation and took a pitstop at the Pizza Hut before coming home. As our main money rais- er, the hotdogs sales held twice a month did really well. Sandy Humphrey precided at the section ral- ly, Ronda Goodroe presented the skill shop that she won first place on at the state. Several other mem- bers were hostesses at the mini sessions at the sec- tion ralley. We took a trip to Taylorville to see the annual farm progress show and saw alot of interest- ing farm equipment. For Homecoming, we entered a float called Headknockers . The club sponsored a drive for clothing, toys, and food for the needy at Christmas time. We gave boxes of gifts to five dif- ferent families. We combined our forces with FFA for the annual Sweetheart Dance. At Daddy Date Night, we treated our fathers to food and fun. Twenty members participated in the Section 3-D demonstration contest. We took our FHA trip to Illi- nois State University and Beich's Candy's and brought home alot of samples. We ended our 78-79 year with the Mother-Daughter Banquet and Instal- lation of Officers. £ Left to right, front row: Officers: Lucinda Beatty-President; Linda Loyd-Vice President; Felicia Marchizza-Treasurer; Nancy Grider-Recreation; Marilyn Thomas-Public Relations; Tracey Branham-Historian; Mickie Walker-Projects; Sandy Humphrey-Section 3-D President and Student Council Representative. Club Of Representatives Student Council's first task of the new school year was to follow up on a request from students to change the Homecoming arrange- ments. In the past all Homecoming activities the parade, dance, and game, have been held on one day. With the support of the students and faculty. Student Council arranged for a two-day Homecoming Celebration. From now on the parade and the game will be held on Friday and the dance will take place on Sat- urday night. As well as the change in Home- coming activities. Student Council also spon- sored the crowning of the queen and helped organize the parade. They also picked up the tab on the Disco Sensations dance. In December the group had a Christmas decoration contest and a Christmas party for students and faculty. Also sponsored by Stu- dent Council was the notorious Gong Show and the Valentine's Day party where some of the teachers got to re-new old flames. During the month of April, Student Council organized Teachers Appreciation Day and be- gan the Student Council election process for the 1979 80 school year. , »• Active Members: First row, left to right: Ketra Deschamps, f Gary Neumann, Michele Henkhaus, Mark Dudley, Joe Mi- . j chelich.
