The perfect adjective to describe 1987. We as seniors had to face the decisions of a lifetime. We became aware of many facets of life that we had long overlooked. While we discovered the financial strains of college and realized our 13 years of structured education had finally come to an end, we found that our years at AHS had been filled with memories that would last a lifetime. We quickly learned that there are decisions to make, deadlines to meet and problems to solve. And though at times it seemed as if the problems surrounding us as we planned our futures were the greatest and most pressing, many trials, triumphs and tragedies affected the nation as a whole. Through the movie of the year, “Platoon ’, the trauma of the Vietnam War was brought to our attention. We came to respect the acts of those before us. The fear of the AIDS virus and the Iran-Contra affair were also subjects in the public eye, as well as Kay Orr taking her place as Nebraska’s first woman governor. As we stepped down from our positions of leadership at AHS, we stepped up into the everchanging roles of our community, state and nation. There was a competitive spirit that the class of 87 always possessed. From academics to athletics, the 98th graduating class could always be depended upon to provide an outstanding example. As the students walk out the doors of AHS, they could prize the uniqueness that had always set them apart. Each individual had his own dreams of how to achieve success and live up to the great potential of the class of 1987. Seniors say good-bye to AHS! 68 Seniors Say Good-Bye To A.H.S.
