Picnic, awards make '79 pep club season A pot-luck picnic held at the Legion Memorial park in August of 1978 started the 1978-79 pep club season. Games were played and new members were introduced to the previous members. Throughout the year, the pep club supported various sports activities, had cake raffles, took charge of homecoming, and sponsored a jean dance with disco music. The year ended with a dinner during which awards were presented. Mrs. Heller and Mrs. Rarick were given special gifts from the pep club. The latter received a plaque with the engraving: To Mrs. Rarick for her faithful service to the AHS pep club from 1964 to 1979. Suzanne North received a gift for being a cheerleader all four years of high school, and president Lori Kimball was presented gifts for her service. High point award winners and seniors who had been in pep club four years were recognized. The awards went to: Marla Moody, junior; and Patty Byfield, senior. Nancy Miller was named overall high point winner, because she accumulated the most pep club points during the year. 20
