Point system helps raise school spirit Pep club was very active again this year supporting the football, wrestling, and basketball teams for the girls and boys. St. Patrick's day was celebrated with a dance d.j.'d by WOW radio's Dave Wingert. Cake raffles, pep rallies and the homecoming activities were also sponsored by pep club. Each year awards are presented to the girls earning the most points throughout the year. Sophomore, Jenny Spear, earned high point her first year here at A.H.S. She made posters encouraging enthusiasm and stickers for the player's lockers boosting their spirit before the games. Freshman Julie Whisler, sophomore Teresa Ebler, junior Nancy Miller, and senior Laurie Fritsch also worked hard with activities to earn high point in their classes. 1. Representing bulldog pride are the reserve cheerleaders Penny Wolfe, Lori Niemann, Kriste Russ, and Chris Cole. 2. AHS varsity cheerleaders, Vicki Brungardt, Barb Wilson, Doreen Heidzig, Suzanne North, and Tami Andrew cheer the football team on to a victory. 3. Pep Club vice president Tish Root, secretary Lori Kimball, and president Laurie Fritsch enjoy playing on the ledges after school. 4. AHS cheerleaders generate spirit at pep rallies through class competition yells. 5. Mat maids Julie Vickers and Tish Root emphasize spirit in wrestling cheers. 6. Varsity cheerleaders for 1977-78 are Barb Wilson, Doreen Heidzig, Tami Andrew, Vicki Brungardt, and Suzanne North. 7. WOW disc jockey Dave Wingert prepares his list of requests at the pep club dance. 8. 26 Record attendance at musical comedy Irving Berlin's western musical Annie Get Your Gun was staged at AHS on November 8 and 10. This play boasted a cast of 33 members, and a record-breaking attendance of over 900. A saga of the love between Frank Butler, played by Paul Crotty, and Annie Oakley, played by Lori Kimball, the play is noted for such songs as There's No Business Like Show Business , and Doin' What Comes Naturally . Mr. Jeff Falter directed the comedy, assisted by Mr. Mike Zimmerman, as musical director. Those in the cast were Fred Allen, Dave Armstrong, Annette Bohling, Barie Brettmann, Bert Cole, Paul Crotty, Steve Dingman, Suzie Fairbanks, Deirdre Fike, Laurie Fritsch, Susan Haynes, Saundra Holland, Ben Jones, Jeff Jones, David Kimball, Lori Kimball, Lisa Krueger, Susi McConnell, Mark McKercher, Marla Moody, Deanna Nichols, Lori Niemann, Suzanne North, Allison Oestmann, Shari Oestmann, Mark Palmerton, Kriste Russ, Mark Sandau, Dave Sanders, Nancy Sullivan, Susan Thies, Dale Thomas, Barb Wilson. 1 Paul Crotty, Lori Kimball, Dale Thomas, and Mark Sandau say There's No Business Like Show Business! 2. Hero of the show was Frank Butler, played by Paul Crotty. 3. After a ceremony adopting her into the Sioux tribe, Annie proclaims I'm an Indian Too. 4. Jeff Jones examines a dead quail--an example of Annie's marksmanship--as she and her brother and sisters, portrayed by Shari Oestmann, Suzi McConnell, Barb Wilson, and David Kimball proudly look on. 5. The opening scene found Mark Sandau and Annette Bohling singing of Indians and Buffalo Bill to the townspeople.
