swing choir named riverside junction The 1975-’76 swing choir named themselves Riverside Junction. The name was originated by Steve Palmerton. Under the direction of Mr. Mike Zimmerman, the swing choir performed for such places as Good Samaritan. Jr. High. Kiwanis. Rotary, Women's Auxiliary. Jr. Women's Club's fashion show, and a convocation for the high school. Early in May the swing choir and stage band gave a concert for the public in the band shell in the city park. Picnic lunches were brought and games were played. May 7 and 8 was the Midland Jazz Festival, which is a contest for stage bands and swing choirs all over the state. ahs soul steppers rock with the beat This year's Drill Team performed with the band at many football games, contests and parades. When basketball season rolled around they got their chance to shine. One of their best routines was done to “Rock Around the Clock. The Drill Team’s music came from the AHS pep band, directed by Mr. Paul Ramp. The girls decided to have a slumber party again this year. It was held March 5. At this time they ordered their individual pictures and their group pictures. The year’s captain and cocaptain were Vicki VonBergen and Kathy Reid. 1. Tami Andrew.
