AHS MARCHING BAND HA S SUCCESSFUL YEAR The AHS Band played many times this fall and winter. They performed at the Nemaha County Fair, Richardson County Fair at Humboldt, King Korn Carnival, Shrine Bowl, and all home football games. Trophies were received at the Apple Jack Festival at Nebr. City and at the Peru Homecoming Parade. Superior ratings were earned at the Syracuse Marching Contest, Plat-tsmouth Invitational; and a 2+” rating was received at the Pershing State Marching Contest. In the spring, the concert band and small groups participated in the District Music Contest, which was held at Auburn High School. Superior ratings went to: concert band, brass choir, clarinet choir, clarinet quartet, saxophone sextet, solos— tympani, Cindy Andrew; alto clarinet, Kay Baatz; contra-bass clarinet, John Chatelain; flute, Nancy Hartwig; and piano, Debbie Ebeler and Janet Genoa. Officers of '71-72 are: Debbie Ebeler, Pres; John Chatelain, Vice; Cindy Andrew and Linda Darling, Sec.-Treas.; and Brett Bence, SAB. 22
