Homecoming Royalty: Rhonda Collin, Karen Crofford, Queen Cheryl Groff, Anita Zeps, Jean Blecha Harvest Moon Brightens ’68 Homecoming Homecoming 1968 began with the traditional bonfire on Thursday, October 17. Dr. Paul Scott helped promote spirit with a short pep talk. Festivities continued with a parade downtown after school on Friday. Robert Hem -mingsen, president of the Board of Education urged Bulldog fans to push for a victory in the evening battle with Waverly. The football game resulted in a Bulldog victory. The Homecoming crowd then enjoyed dancing under the Harvest Moon to music provided by the Jolly Green Giants. The crowning of Queen Cheryl Groff to reign over Homecoming festivities was the highlight of the evening. Crowned by Pep Club President Carol Scott, Queen Cheryl was presented with a rose bouquet by A-Club Vice-President Charles Behrends. Attendants to the Queen were Jean Blecha, Rhonda Collin, Karen Crofford, and Anita Zeps. Mike Adams, John Femeau, Mark Hahn, John Schuberth and Joe Whisler escorted the 1968 Homecoming court. 28 Cheryl Groff anxiously awaits coronation.

Future Homemakers Of America Heighten Interest With Varied Programs Members of the Future Homemakers of America began the year with a progressive dinner. Initiation ceremonies for incoming freshmen were held in October. Twelve members attended the District FHA Convention at Weeping Water. Regular meetings throughout the year included a session on cake decorating, an informative talk from a foreign student, and the annual Christmas caroling trek. The money-making project of the year was a spaghetti supper. Highlights of FHA Week were clash day, munch-and-crunch day, be-kind-to-boys day, dress-up day, and a dinner for the teachers. The final event of the year was the Mother-Daughter Banquet which included installation of new officers and a style show, compliments of the freshman home economics students. Officers for the year were: Pres. Jane Niebrugge, V. Pres. Nancy Wagner, Sec. Mary Andrew, Treas. Laurie Vosberg, Student Council Liz McGough, Reporter Kathy Mowery, Historian Denise Elliott, and Parliamentarian Ernestine Schlange.
