THE BULLDOG 1965 A UBURJV HIGH SCHOOL AUBURN, NEBRASKA STANDING: Ron Hermann, Vice-President; Gene Ely, President. SEATED: Paul Scott; Howard Kite; Dick Hahn; Robert Hemmingsen. BOARD OF EDUCATION The Board of Education is the publicly elected body which governs the schools of our district. The six members meet on the first Monday of each month in the Superintendent's office at the high school. Their principal duties are the hiring of the Superintendent of Schools, the approving of the school calendar, and the planning of the school budget, their biggest problem. They have been members of the Nebraska State School Boards Association for three years and for three years have been members of the National School Boards Association. The two ex-officio members are Harvey Bergmann, Treasurer; and Ross L. Speece, Secretary. Auburn High School and the whole community owe a debt of gratitude to the Board of Education for the fine work and unselfish hours they have given to make our schools better. George has the misfortune to be born in the wrong age; a dreamer in a world of fighters and hunters. To the people of his time, he is a misfit and a public joke. He is flunking the academic subjects in school-hunting, fishing, fighting; but he enjoys the extra curricular activities—history and geography. This is serious as the weak are exiled to certain death in the wilderness. George's father, John the Strong, almost ruins his campaign for mayor by defending his son. John is famous and popular because he discovered fire some thirty years before. Excitement in schoolyard is centered around an emotional wrestling match. Mrs. William Rarick directed this fine play with Mrs. Gilbert E. Wilson assisting. 43 A CHOIR The A Choir Members include: ROW 1: L. Johnson, S. Stuart, C. Kite, L. Oestmann, P. Stutheit, P.
