TRACK LEFT TO RIGHT: D. Tulsha, J. Ingersoll, J. Bohl, D. Coulter, C. Banta, M. Bailey, W. Gerdes, and J. Allen. These boys participated in the State meet. The Bulldogs had a very successful track season. They competed in ten track meets of which three were duals. In the duals Auburn defeated Wymore and Falls City Sacred Heart. For the first time in four years Auburn was defeated in a dual, being upset by Tecumseh. Larger meets that they participated in were the Peru Invitational, the Doane Invitational, and the Tarkio Invitational in which they won the Class B Division. In the conference meets, the Auburn team earned a second in the Southeast Conference and another in the Southeast Border Conference. In the District meet, the Bulldogs earned another second to a very fine Plattsmouth team. At the district, Auburn qualified eight men for the state meet, where we earned three points. The point earners were Dennis Tulsha in the Discus, and Jim Bohl in the Mile. Those participating in track not listed in the picture above are: S. Allgood, R. Bacon, D. Banks, C. Behrends, R. SENIORS SENIORS: John Allen, Guard; Ron Majors, Guard; Lee Gerdes, Center; Dennis Banks, Guard. The Auburn High School Bulldogs completed the season with a record of 7 wins and 8 losses and a 1-1 record in the District Tournament. Ron Majors and Lee Gerdes were chosen for the All Southeast Border Conference team and the Southeast Conference team. Wylie Gerdes was chosen for the Southeast Conference team. Ron Majors was the leading scorer with 17 points a game and won the Rotary Club Free Throw Award with a 69. 7 percentage. Ron Majors and Lee Gerdes were co-captains for the year.
