As the year progressed, the band presented two concerts and one convocation. Then in the spring, the members represented Auburn at the Tarkio contest and the district contest where they received their rewards for the work and time that they had devoted in the past year as being a member of the band. Above, the band is performing in the Band Day Parade which was held in Lincoln. Band members spent many extra hours of practicing during sectionals, which were held once a week, in addition to the regular band pract cfs The Pep Band helped to enliven the spirit at the football and basketball games, and at the Pep Rallies. H. A. Some of the money-raising projects included a car wash, bake sale, and returns from the concessions at football and basketball games. Special events this year were the District and State Conventions, a Christmas party with children as guests; a Mother-Daughter Tea in the spring. Devotional Night; a Joint Meeting with Nebraska City and Peru, and a supper celebrating U. N. Day. The officers this year were Carol McLain, President; Connie Groff, Vice President; Bette Coulter, Secretary; Sharon Goings, Treasurer; Mama Lechliter, Historian; Pat McLain, Publicity Chairman; and Beverly O'Harra, Parliamentarian. The purpose of the club is to help students become acquainted with the library so they can get the best possible use out of it. Each of the twenty-nine members is responsible at some time during the year for working at the library desk, helping check out books, putting books back on the shelves, keeping the card catalogue in order, mending old books, and getting new ones. The Bulldog football team of '58 had its first undefeated season in the history of the Auburn High School. A great deal of credit is due to Coach Max Kitzelman who coached his first year at Auburn. The team was partially rewarded by the large crowds that turned out for each game. Gary Dalton and Dick Tushla led the running and passing attack throughout the season. The Bulldogs beat class A Falls City, Nebraska City, and Plattsmouth, as well as Humboldt, Pawnee City, Ralston, Tecumseh, and Wymore. The team was one of the few undefeated teams in Nebraska. They won the South East Border Conference Trophy and were named co-champions of the Aksarben Conference. Seven boys were honored by being placed on All-State and A11-Conference teams. A successful season next year will depend on replacing seniors - Anson Andrew, Gary Dalton, Larry Hayes, Gary Schlange, and Dick Tushla. SCORES STATISTICS 19 Wymore 0 25 Nebr.
