Efforts to grow grass have besen unsuccessful so far, but with better growing seasons we should have a sod playing field soon. The quarter mile cinder track is well constructed and is a full seven lanes wide throughout its length. It provides ample room for the biggest of meets. The concrete bleachers seat almost five hundred and provide an excellent view of the field. One section of the stadium is made for the use of the band. The rest rooms are conveniently located. The shrubs used in the landscaping are growing well and when the field and banks are covered with green the entire layout will present a most pleasing appearance. The field was dedicated with appropriate ceremony on October 2, 1936 preceding the Auburn-Sabetha game. —RALPH HIGGINS. Le i Armstrong. Webster (Assistn f U Coach). Little. B. M agor. According to its constitution the purpose of this club is to “fix ideals of good sportsmanship and to create a friendly interest in inter-school contests. The members of this club shall assume the responsibility of extending courtesies to the opposing team and other visitors. The club shall lead in new yells and' songs, teaching them to the student body in order to maintain a good cheering section that will support the team to the end of the game. The club shall strive for the greatest possible cooperation with the cheer leaders, accepting their directions in regard to time of cheering and suitable yells and songs.’ Girls? Basket Ball Although an unorganized activity, basket ball proved to be an attraction to many girls. Miss Gates acted as coach for the squad of over twenty girls. From these, two color teams were organized with Mary Ann Gibbons and Elizabeth Nixon as captains. The teams made marked progress during the series of practices. One game was played as a preliminary to the Auburn-Pawnee City game on February 12.
