E THE MAROCDN Sz GOLD PUBLISHED BY THE SENIOR CLASS AUBURN HIGH SCHOOL AUBURN, PENNSYLVANIA 4-QQIIIIIA .Aff WM VOLUME 7, 1954 FOREWORD M Memories are our most treasured possessions. Fortunate indeed is the person whose store of them is ever pleasant, especially if they are school rem- iniscences. In the following pages we have tried to illustrate a year's journey of school life. Soon the events of this journey will be but a memory, but the knowledge gained by the lasting friendships that have bound us together will prepare us to meet the greatest journey of all - Life. With this impression, uppermost in our minds, we. the Maroon and Gold staff, have endeavored to make this a book of memory bringing back to all of us glimpses of our happy days spent in Auburn High School. -2- ' x A i w V AUBURN HIGH SCHOOL .- 3 .- Wi Q 'e5w Em5 on 'Eg ' ' r ,BN , C. ooL Scullwr 6 2 4 C j A . - . 4 pg CTIVITICS Q ,Q 5 o 'r P f f.. ,9 d I e cuz-5 .' 4 4 lfll 5 u kkklhmm H - Lydia, E X 11' 14, H .aa ALC Q GVAQW QSM' -4-' DEDICATION Q For their many worthy contributions to our school and community, we, the Senior Class of 1954, wish to dedicate this, our seventh annual, to the STALLER-LUCKENBILL POST 3975 VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS and the AUBURN LIONS CLUB .ig W ',ll', w cl A lQ,RTI-ON QM Ge .-5.- ALMA MATER M Auburn High School, ever love thee Through the March of Time: Standing on a forest hillside, High above the town. SUBIECTS: History, Health Principal's Message PRINCIPAIQS M ESSAGE is SENIORS: One of the outstanding features of our yearbooks, past and present, is that all members of the senior classes participate in the production M a joint enterprise of every senior. Now participation in group activities is a highly desirable democratic practice. It is essential for the most efficient type of society that all its members participate in its activities. One can no more serve his class and school and himself by failing to contribute than he can his society and community hy with- drawing into the hills and living unto himself. That type of individual is a leech, living off of the life blood of the class and society without giving anything in return. The evidence of your participation in this class and school activity would seem to indicate that you have learned to live in our society by carrying your share of the responsibility. May you ever continue to do so. Best wishes. FREDERICK K. KRAUSS. Supervising Principal. Auburn High School, Auburn, Penna. March 1, 1954. - 3 .. SYNOPSIS The play opens when a young married couple, Gladdie and Eddie, having disliked a lamp Aunt Cynthia sent them for a present, have given it to Allen for junk. On the arrival of Aunt Cynthia they learn the lamp is valuable - it contains 51,000 in bills. The plot thickens as they try to locate the lamp which changes hands faster than Merle can run to the bus stop. Finally after many laughs Iohnny buys a lamp from the Salvation Army. Upon stumbling over a footstool the lamp slips from its wrappings. Elinor sees it is the long-lost lamp. The money is returned to the young couple and the lamp goes to Iohnny's boss as a birthday present. Everything is solved after all the excitement, which all led to an interesting and humorous play. ...46,.- ? i as d 470 if iw f BOYS' BASKETBALL SQUAD Teams A. H. S.
