Maurice Lawson S crgeant-at-Arms SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Morro: Seek and ye shall find COLOR: Green and White FLOWER: White Iris As WE step forth into the future, we think back to 1953, when we entered the new high school as hopeful Sophomores. Our leaders were Barbara Nyberg as president, Don Cook as vice-president and Lois Botting as secre- tary-treasurer. XVe were well represented by Dolly Gonzales on the song staff. Dolly was also our homecoming princess with Roger Duprel as prince. XVe had a very successful Sophomore Hop, the Touchdown Twirlf' The next year we came back as striving juniors under the enthusiastic leadership of Don Cook as president, LeRoy Sparhawk as vice-president, and Dolores Allard as secretary-treasurer. The boys went out full force for sports this year, and were well supported by Dolly Gonzales, Glad'delle Domholt, and Eleanor Nelson on the yell staff. Chosen to reign over the homecoming festivities were Eleanor Nelson as princess and Bob johnson as prince. The juniors heartily participated' in plan- ning and decorating for the junior-Senior Ball. The theme was Snowflake Serenade. The long awaited day has arrived. It is September 7, 1955, and we are now the mighty Seniors. XVe rolled under way with Sam Martin as president, LeRoy Sparhawk as vice-president, Roger Brown as secretary-treasurer, and Sam Lawson as sergeant-at-arms. Our student body leaders were Chuck Black- smith as president, Dick Brady as vice-president, Sharon Brandt as secretary, and Dorothy Tonstad as treasurer. Our class of 56 was ready for big things ahead. Excitement filled the air as the football season arrived. Although our championship football dreams were not fulfilled, the senior boys participated wholeheartedly trying to put the Trojans on top. The team chose Roger Dup- rel as honorary captain, and Dick Brady received the coaches, achievement award. Glad'delle Domholt and jerrene Tate represented us on the yell staff with Diana Sedgemore and Dolly Gonzales on the song staff. One of the biggest events of the year was homecoming. History repeated itself when Dolly Gonzales and Roger Duprel were chosen to reign over the festivities as Queen and King. The big homecoming game was a thriller with the Enumclaw Hornets nosing out the Trojans 20 to 13. XVith the end of the football season, our attention turned enthusiastically toward basketball. -As the season progresses, we have hopes of attending the district tournament. The seniors, Bob johnson Qcaptainj, Don Cook, Sam Mar- tin, Roger Duprel, Ron Behrbaum, Stuart jones, Floyd Knudtson and Dick Brady are keeping the Trojans in the thick of the battle. The Seniors turned out with full force to make the junior-Senior Ball the success it was. The theme was Cupid,s Capers. As we, the class of 1956, go forth to seek further success, we can always look back and be proud of the many achievements of our three years in Auburn Senior High School.
