I Introduction 0 Nature seems to have taken a pleasure in placing in front of man's puny hands a set of Herculean tasks to mock his pathetic physi- cal strength. Since his advent on this earth he has accepted the taunt of his barriers and has beaten at his confines until the 'unsurmountables' and the 'unsurpassables' have nearly all become his 'conquests' The Atlantic Columbus took by water: Mt. Everest fell this year by air. The Sahara. the Amazon jungles, the polar regions, and countless others of Nature's aces have been trumped by man, the INVADER. W
