Recognition at hast A stepping-stone to graduation. Just one way to remind the Seniors’ that already they were halfway there. A A We waited a long time for this . . . A Senior class president, Terry Fritz. The program went off without a hitch while everyone seemed to enjoy the guest speaker, Pastor Ash’s talk. He not only gave us a great talk, but he was close to us in a special way; he is the father of one of our seniors. This by itself, makes him unique. Then there was Mr. Koehn, going through the years when we thought we were big stuff, yet all the time knowing there was one more class ahead of us. Some sat up there looking back, and some sat up there looking ahead to the future, but all were wondering to themselves, I wonder what the REAL thing is going to be like?” M A Your integrity shapes your desti¬ ny”, was the topic of Pastor Ash’s speech. The Senior Quartet, Eric Risby, George Pleitez, Ward Sparacio and Andrew McPherson, lifts our hearts with inspirational music. A A Tm almost there,” thinks Evelyn Carvalho. A Bringing back cherished, old memories, Mr. Koehn holds the Senior class sweatshirt from when they were wise Sophomores! U Senior Recognition 19

There was much excitement in the air when the seniors piled onto several buses for their first trip together. About 100 of the 120 seniors load¬ ed up their luggage and toys and were off to the ferry. Shortly after the ferry ride, we arrived at Fort Casey and piled our junk into the old army barracks, ready for anything! Friday night consisted of different groups ex¬ ploring the fort and friends walking along the beach. People were busy getting to know each other better. Mr. Brendel gave us our church service on Sabbath, which was a real blessing to everyone. His talks on relationships were humorous, but he really got the point across. That afternoon, the sun was shining brightly when everyone started off to the fort once more. A giant chain of seniors, arms interlocked, groped around in the dark tunnels looking for places to explore, while others just kicked back on the lawn to soak up the rays. Later that evening, we all gathered around a huge bonfire near the beach. While everyone huddled close together to keep warm, a few stories were told by Mr. Priest and various stu¬ dents. Eric Risby’s story about the pink and pur¬ ple gorilla was definitely a favorite. Marshmal¬ lows were roasted and smores gobbled by the pound—the perfect way to end a perfect day. Sunday found everyone at the fort one last time for a group picture. It was a restless bunch of seniors who crowded around the tower. Somewhere out there is a park ranger who will never forget Auburn Adventist Academy! J Senior Retreat
