CHEMISTRY 17 HOW TO REACT TO CHEMISTRY IN 3 EASY LESSONS by Faila Course Lesson One: Don ' t panic. The instructions, notes, books, chemicals, and test tubes may come quick and thick, but panic just makes it worse. After absorbing fast instructions on possible explosive reactions, start from the top and do it all step by step, drop by drop. After the Fire Department has left and you have finished filling out the insurance forms, pick a different experiment for lab. Lesson Two: Your second experiment. Now in the new laboratory you ' re taking on a new assignment, which, the teacher emphasizes, is guaranteed non-explosive. Oh, this one sounds perfect. All there is to do is pour some carefully measured chemicals into test tubes and —OOPS!— spilled some of it. Too late to finish it now; class is over. You wipe your hand across your forehead with a sigh of relief. The next morning you wake up to find an extremely unusual complexion problem; your forehead is entirely black, with streaks of the same blotched over your nose and cheeks. You note the same problem on your hands, only worse. Silver Nitrate—AgN03—may not be explosive, but it takes a while to wear off. Lesson Three: How to get an A . This, through my squinting eyes, has never been envisioned.

18 SPIRITUAL ACTIVITIES SPIRITUAL ACTIVITIES Being a Christian school, A.A.A. provides many and varied spiritual programs for the students. After the Friday night vespers, a voluntary Afterglow” is conducted. This includes singing, testimonies and prayer bands. A separation of the sheep from the goats according to Pastor Oliver. At some church services, we have the joy of witnessing an addition to our ever growing family, through baptism. Sabbath afternoon has a potpourri of different activities. We have the choice of going on a hike (if one is organized), or singing bands, or a small faculty-sponsored cjiscussion group, or you may attend M.V. services. However, if dorm, we do not have the choice of choosing nothing. Three times during the year a Week of Spiritual Emphasis is provided for the students. The Friday night meeting of Week of Prayer is traditionally a Communion service, attended by choice. Although organized spiritual activities are provided, many students have individual ones. A few students might get together to study specific E. G. White books, or a book of the Bible. Also small nightly prayer groups are formed, and numerous private devotions. Though most activities of a spiritual nature are obvious, there are many that don ' t meet the eye. A student studying diligently for history class (or any other) is participating in a spiritual activity. The jogger doing his daily mile is helping his religious experience. For when we improve one side of our triangle (a triangle with sides physical, mental, and spiritual) it strengthens yet another side. All activities here at A.A.A., if used properly, can enhance one ' s spiritual growth.
