V N A a ■t • i ' r AUFURN ACADEMY AUBURN, WASH. .98002 v RAINIER VISTA VOLUME XXXIir, PRESENTED St THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF AUBURN ACADEMY AUBURN WASHINGTON Photo by Jan Doward Mt. Rainier This is our campus. Each year it reflects new faces, portrays new activities, and advances spiritually, mentally and physically. Here dreams and plans will continue--To Heights That Lie Beyond. 2 CONTENTS Introduction.2 Dedication.8 Memorial.9 Faculty.10 Classes.17 Spiritual.50 Activities.57 Snaps.79 Advertising.82 Roster.101 3 ADMINISTRATION BUILDING If this historical building could speak, many interesting experiences would be brought to mind, for within its walls are conducted classes, Sabbath School, Vespers, and Missionary Volunteer Meetings. GYM The Campmeeting Auditorium, or M Big Gym, houses most of our play periods. Here, social and physical natures join to produce another important phase of Christian Education. 4 SOUTH HALL The home of the Junior and Senior girls is filled with many pleasant memories. It is also visited frequently by other students, as they eagerly wait for meals served in the cafeteria below. GIBSON HALL In years gone by, Gibson Hall rang with loud merri¬ ment and frivolity, char¬ acteristic of boys; but as tides change, so have cir¬ cumstances. Now its in¬ terior is brightened by some forty or more Freshman and Sophomore girls. r k |: r r ; SHi I r 7 ): jrW! NEW BOYS’ DORM Upon entering these por¬ tals the sight of a beautiful and spacious parlor en¬ hances ones vision. The individual rooms are con¬ veniently furnished with built-in beds, bookcases, and closets. Photo by Jan Doward 6 7 Mt. Rainier DEDICATION In lands across the sea he ' s been A missionary to all men, And here at school through joy or fuss His life continues blessing us. With service kind and words so true His smile pervades all that we do. To Elder Berry now we give A token of these days we live. We dedicate, in love to thee, --The RAINIER VISTA ' 63. 8 Photo by Jan Doward Mt. Adams FACULTY Photo by Jan Doward Mt. Rainier Principal’s Message Dear Students: We find ourselves at the close of another school year--a year filled with activity and accomplishment for stu¬ dents of Auburn Academy. A year filled with events which have startled and frightened people throughout the world. Although the world falters in an atmos¬ phere of uncertainty and fear, Auburn Academy students may climb to pin¬ nacles of success in this life and rest on the summit of eternal life in that better world to come. God’s plan, if diligently followed, will result in that happiness and contentment that will be the everlasting reward of true Chris¬ tians . May God help you to reach the immedi¬ ate ’’heights that lie beyond” and event¬ ually to gain the heavenly home that He has prepared for you. BOARD OF TRUSTEES L . E . This annual shows the work and co-operation of many people. I wish to thank all of the businessmen for their support; the members and sponsors of the annual staff that have stood by and helped in many ways; also the students and faculty who have co-operated with our many requests in making this 1963 RAINIER VISTA a success.
