Above: Coach John Lyons gives a pep talk at one of the Friday afternoon pep sessions. Above at right: Fans rock the Rajahs to a victory at Deland-YVeldon. Among the supporters are Tracey Mauck. Billie Sanders, Beth C'henovveth, Michelle Baer, Jackie Loy, Dale Goodrich, Tami Helton. and Michelle Moss. AHHS football coach, John Lyons was pleased with the team and the season as the Rajahs started the year with three straight wins. Then JR Cornwell was injured and the competition got tougher. Many area teams thought the Rajahs wouldn't win even one game, so the season was a success in the sense that opponents will have more respect for the Rajahs next year. Coach Lyons stated that the team worked hard and the seniors showed great leadership. Senior co-captains were JR Cornwell and Steve Yeakley. The McDade award for most tackles was presented to Doug Loy. The Most Improved Player was Jeff Behrend who received the Phalen award. JR Cornwell was the Most Valuable Player. Several team members were selected to all conference team: Doug Loy made the first team; David Dallas and Steve Yeakley were on the 2nd team. Rod Long, Phil Reed, and Craig Conner all received honorable mention.
