Your staff deserves to be commended for a paper which is a credit to its school and to the people who work on it, was the comment in the official scorebook announcing the rating. Suggestions for improvement included avoiding editorial comment in sports articles, avoiding dull reading of long lists of honor roll names on the front page and student profiles not pegged to the news. This award was based on an examination of a complete file of papers beginning with the Easter is-ue 1971 through the Christmas illue 1971. Last week’s award from National Scholastic Press was based on a complete file of last semester's papers. Midwest Tops Mimeo Papers National Scholastic Press Association at the University of Minnesota has announced that only two mimeographed weeklies were awarded first-class honors, both in the Midwest, for last semester. Besides the AT-TO-HI, the other weekly receiving the honor was Pioneer News of the G. R. Clark high school, Hammond, Ind. mT-TO-HI Wins Di st i net i ons In receiving a first-class honor rating from the National Scholastic Press Association for first semester, the AT-TO-HI also won marks of distinction in physical appearance and in content and coverage. I rarely see a mimeo paper as clean and bright as the AT-TO-HI, the judge commented. As to content and coverage the comment was, The reader really sees A-HHS through your pages. Your sports coverage is complete and informative. I know what did happen and what's on the future docket. Your copy is bright. Concerning headlines throughout the paper, the judge remarked, You write heads very well and count units like pros. Each semester the AT-TO-HI sends a complete file of its papers to NSPA with headquarters at University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. There, judges score the paper on appearance, coverage and writing. Approximately 3,500 high school publications were evaluated the past year by NSPA. 55 INDUSTRIAL The newly formed Industrial Arts Club has stated their goals to be acquainting themselves more thoroughly with industrial practices; to gain an appreciation for industry and the industrial arts; and to develop skill in how to use the tools of industry.
