Frank Reedy was selected to attend Boy's State, but was unable to go. Alternate Bob Sullender attended in Frank's place. Girl's State representative was Dorothy Walker; Joan Day was alternate. Receiving scholarships to the Egyptian Music Camp were Robert Alexander and John Hofsas. The junior class hosted the seniors at the Prom on May 14, 1965, at the Champaign Moose Club. The theme was IN THE MISTY MOONLIGHT. Bill Gough moved to Areola; Jim Moseley returned to A-HHS along with Calvin Trotter, Arthur; Mike Quisenberry, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to which he later returned; and Gene Hayse, Milford. Two students withdrew. Mrs. Irene Davenport and David Dunscomb were the junior class advisers. Starting their final year of high school were fifty-three returning seniors under the leadership of class president, Robert Alexander. Other class officers were vice president, Frank Reedy; secretary, Gloria Mullinix; and treasurer, Mike Helfrich. Student Council representatives were Judy Birch and Dick Beery. Dorothy Walker was class AT-TO-HI reporter. Sue Weber and Ruth Ann Bristol were varsity cheerleaders, with Sue serving as captain. Homecoming royalty were queen Gloria Mullinix and king Bob Sullender. Grand march leaders were Brenda Stephenson, Sue Weber, Bill Baker, and Frank Reedy. Senior attendant was Carole Beck with her escort, Dick Beery. The senior float, RAJAH'S WISHES DO COME TRUE placed third, Bob Sullender served as president of the student council along with Robert Alexander, vice president; and Jo Ann Koeberlein, treasurer. Other student council members were Cindy Leisner, Brenda Stephenson, and Sue Weber. AT-TO-HI editorial staff writers were John Hofsas, editor; Joan Day, assistant editor; Dick Beery, sports editor; Cindy Leisner, Bob Barcus, Roger Hadden, John Burcham, and Judy Birch. Production typists were Judy Birch, Madonna Berg, Ruth Ann Bristol, Linda Hale, Terri Henry, Janet Livengood, Shirley Myers, and Sue Wilkinson. There were 14 football lettermen: Bill Baker, honorary co-captain; Dick Beery; John Burgener, honorary co-captain; Don Ferguson, Roger Hadden, Mike Helfrich, Larry Korte, Frank Reedy, Bob Sullender, Jim Williams, Barry Berg, Jim Moseley, and Dennis Terri 1. Basketball lettermen were Bill Baker, Dick Beery, John Burgener, Don Ferguson, Frank Reedy, and Bob Sullender. Dick Beery, Barry Berg, Alan Cox, Greg Sims, and Bob Sullender lettered in track. Officers of organizations were Library Club, Joan Day, president; John Hofsas, secretary-treasurer; Lettermen's Club, Bill Baker, president; Dick Beery, vice president; Bob Sullender, secretary; and John Burgener, treasurer; FFA, Ray Wildman, vice president; John Burgener, treasurer; GAA, Brenda Spencer, president; Band, Dick Beery, president; Robert Alexander, vice president; Frank Reedy, secretary-treasurer; John Burcham, librarian; FHA, Jo Ann Koeberlein, president; Shirley Myers, vice president. First place winners at the state solo and ensemble contest were John Hofsas, oboe; John Burcham, mixed brass duet; John Hofsas and Joan Day, woodwind quintet; Robert Alexander, Linda Owens, John Burcham, and Dick Beery, brass sextet; Joan Day, Cindy Leisner, and Dorothy Walker, girls single ensemble. Robert Alexander was awarded the Arion Award. The senior plays, MY HEART'S IN THE HIGHLANDS and THE SANDBOX, were presented on April 22, 1966. On April 29, the seniors were guests of the junior class at the Prom which was held at the Moose Club, Champaign. National Honor Society members were Robert Alexander, Judy Birch, Alan Cox, Joan Day, Mike Helfrich, John Hofsas, Jo Ann Koeberlein, Bob Sullender and Dorothy Walker. Bob Sullender received the SAR award; Joan Day was the DAR winner. Joan also received the Bausch-Lomb Science Award. Miss Lois Shonkwiler and Mrs. Donna Leamy were senior advisers. Baccalaureate was held Sunday, June 5, with commencement exercises the following evening, June 6. Class president, Robert Alexander, introduced the speakers. John Hofsas and Judy Birch, co-salutatorians, gave the welcome and class prophecy. Valedictorian, Joan Day, gave the farewell. A group of 17 seniors sang, as did a boys quartet composed of Robert Alexander, Alan Cox. Mike Helfrich, and Frank Reedy. Legion Awards went to Joan Day and Bob Sullender.
