CLASS HISTORY ln a mad scramble all fifty-two freshmen found seats in the large study hall looking scared and be- wildered. In spite of the difficulties of making new acquaintances they managed to elect Beverly Wilson, presidentg Kenneth Sawyer, vice-presidentg and Ed Belcher, secretary-treasurer, Joan Bryson and Ed Parsons, student council representatives for the fresh- man year. Mrs. Louise Bean and Mrs. Rosanna Rayburn were their advisers. Karen Mayfield and Daplyn Snyder were elected cheerleaders. Beverly Wilson served as attendant to thehome- coming queen. The seniors did a thorough job of initiating them, and they became members of A.H.s. with cheers and laughter ringing in their ears. Butin return they sponsored a party with Hit Parade as the theme. Their class had made its mark. Honors were awarded when Daplyn Snyder was chosen Queen of the G.A.A. Valentine dance and the student body chose Beverly Wilson the rnost typical co-ed. Many of the class members have served as various officers of the many organizations around school and they are proud of the members as every other class has been, During their years at A.rLS, they lost many of the class members, some married, others moved away or quit school. But in spite of this they also gained a few students: .Tune Evans, Don McLeod, Larry Whobrey, and Dave Hanners. Commencement exercises were planned with Ed Belcher as valedictoriang Ed Parsons, salutator- iang Larry Quick, class historiang and Kenneth Sawyer, class prophet, Most of the senior class took a vacation to the Ozarks and returned in a worst condition but with many happy memories. May 29, 1957, they took the final march through A.PLS. gYrn. Dressed in blue gowns with white tassels they looked back over those four short years with sad hearts but ready to face the new life ahead. They celebrated graduation with a short party after- wards before each took his chosen path. They had learned that Today Decides Tomorrow.
