And as we say our final good bye, one last embrace and one more cry. A keep in touch , a promise 1 will , . a remember when , but better still. A place in my heart you ' ll always stay, This is what ' s said as we go on our way. EDICATION We The Class of 1983. are proud to dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Watterson, a man who has done so very much for our class. For the past four years he has stood by and with us. ready to make our class the best it could possibly be. He has always been there when we needed him as an advisor, but more importantly as a friend. His first concern was always in our best interest and he always gave 100% of himself to our class. Indeed, his advise was e ndless, his thoughts and ideas always optimistic and that provided our class with tremendous spirit. Words could never express all that he has done for us. but we would like to Thank-you Mr. Watterson-you are THE BESTl FACULTY Central Administration Attleboro School Committee- Row • Karen Travis, Lawrence Weiss, Dr. Adolph Bender, Brenda Reed, Row J.- William Brennan, John Carty, David Erwin, Mayor Gerald Keane, Row 3- Andrea Dearborn, Keith Hatchings. But those times are past memories now. Thinking back to those days with Lee, we always laughed, for all of us knew him well. We loved him for who he was and the things we did with him. Although Lee was taken from us early, we know God is taking good care of him. Even though all we have left are great memories of a lasting friendship, they ' ll be constant reminders of a love gone by and of times that will never be forgotten. Imagine, having the chance to live and learn the culture of another country! Could I handle it? That was the question! Living in another country is not easy, you are definitely homesick, especially during the holidays. Living with another family is another thing that an exchange student encounters. Adjustment to their way of living is a trying task. But, having a nice family definitely helped a lot in my stay. Having the chance to see the beautiful sites of the country is a great thing to happen to an exchange student, but the best thing to an exchange student is to attend a new school and gain new friends, meet new people and share your experiences. Thank You A. H. S. for giving me the chance to share my experiences with you! Mary Anne Tan I ' m Sibylle Severens and I ' m an exchange student from West Germany. I ' m staying here in the United States for 10 months. When I first came here, I was a little bit afraid of the big differences between the U. S. and West Germany. There was no reason to be nervous. Sure, there are differences, but it is easy to adapt. I like all of the school activities here in the U. S. very much. It gives you the opportunity to get to know so many people and doesn ' t cost anything. The one big difference between the U. S. and West Germany is the friendliness here. It is so easy to get to know people. Everybody says HI. even if they don ' t know you very well I want to tell you that I really enjoyed staying here. You are all so nice and everybody has helped me so much. I will never forget my year at Attleboro High. Thank you all Sibylle When I first came to the United States, every thing was a question mark. I didn ' t know where to go. when and even what to do. At first it was difficult but soon I was making friends. What a lovely time I had in school The happiness of each moment is incredible, going to classes and especislly being in the school play. It ' s hard to explain the beautiful things that life is showing me day by day, each single minute in my United States lifetime and it ' s even harder to accept that I have to say GOOD - BYE . To say Good bye to the wonderful time I have had, to the lovely friends I have made and to all the nice teachers I have met . ... It ' s hardi Soon I will be back in Brazil and reminiscing will be a constant action for me, and so, wherever I will be I will be smiling. Your friend forever. Alex Freitas I am a Swedish exchange student and I have been attending A. H. S. as a Senior during the school year of ' 82 - ' 83. To be an exchange student really involves a lot of new experiences. I have been able to learn about differences between Sweden and the U. S. in many different aspects, which also have made me able to look more objective on my own country. I have been taking part in an American way of living and I hope I have been a good representative of Sweden, by sharing my culture. I have also developed my own maturity by staying away from home for a year and by making new friends in a foreign country. By practicing English, I have increased my vocabulary. I ' d like to thank everyone that has helped to make this year a sucess for me. Kenneth Straschko My name is Maria Oscarsson and I am 16 years old. I come from Sweden and I have been attending A. H. S. this year as a Senior. My reasons for coming to the U. S. were to learn English, meet new people and to see how Americans live, your habits and customs. I found that I liked A. H. S. very much because of your great spirit. Everyone here was so friendly and helpful to me. I am sure that my worst experience will come in June when I have to say GOOD BYE to my host family and all of you. Thank you all! Love. When we came back in September knowing it was our last year, we were determined to make it a year to remember. Our enthusiasm for the year was evident when we all worked hard selling candy bars. It all paid off, for in the end there was an overwhelming amount of both participation and money, which resulted in over $5,000 profit. With our bank account replenished, our major activities began. Activities that never would be forgotten: the Powderpuff game, the annual float and our Senior Prom. Who could ever forget all those endless powderpuff practices. Unfortunately the class of 84 managed to tie us but it was still a great game. A major highlight which we all were looking forward to, happened on November 20th at the Sheraton Mansfield Inn, our Senior Prom. It was a fine evening and we danced the night away to the band Secret Agents , with Just Between You S Me , our theme song. Until that time though, we had alot of laughs in store, like the annual Donkey Basketball game and the much needed Senior Class Night. Yes, there would be many parties before, during, and after but we had much to celebrate. With June right around the corner, we began to organize for the Senior Reception, Breakfast and the climax of our Senior Year, our Graduation. As we look back today our four years here at A.H.S. have gone by so quickly maybe a little too quick. We ' ve experienced so much at A.H.S. it ' s really hard to leave it all behind. Granted, there were some rough times, but there were so many more good times. Now it ' s time to move onward to people, places and things unknown. It ' s not going to be easy, no one ever said it would be. but you can do it if you try. I would just like to thank you Class of 1983 for all you have done for me. I wish you the best in whatever you do. Always keep reaching for bigger and better and never give up. Because you deserve the best in lifel Good luck to each and every one of you. Cindy Welch Senior Class President Mrs. Marsden (advisor) Mr. Watterson (advisor) Ms. Paiva (advisor) Barry Depot (president) As Juniors, the class of 1984 had many things to look forward toi and I, myself, am proud to have been elected president of such a spirited and well rounded group of people. Coming in as upper classmen, no one knew what to expect. As early as July, John. Chris Ann, Patti and myself met to plan the year ' s activities and having a class as we do. the year started quite well. In September, we started having float meetings and gearing up for a promising float. We were the first class to organize buses to away football games. Powder Puff - the next on the agenda - needed much planning. We sold over ICO shirts and looked forward to an excellent game. The effort was well worth it as we tied the Senior girls 6-6. Our highlight of the year was our candy sale in January and our prom. The prom was held April J9. 1983 at the Biltmore Hotel in Providence. I would just like to say that the Junior class has had an excellent year and that the class of 1984 IS a special one. May God bless you in all that all of you do in your next year at A.H.S.. Thank you for a great year. As President, I feel the class of 1984 has established itself as a mature class, one that will leave its mark in years to come. In October, we held our magazine drive which was not as successful as we had hoped. After this slight disappointment we had to get going on the quickly approaching Thanksgiving Day float parade. We immediately began having float meetings with a great amount of spirit from the whole class. All of our hard work did pay off when our class proved to be the most spirited at one of the fall pep rallies. On November 17th and 18th the sophomore class ordered class rings. With the spring approaching we looked forward to our final and most awaited activity of the year - the Sophomore Gathering, which was held on April JO, 1983. We had a great collection of talent, ability and school spirit. We also brought many questions and new ideas. Helping to guide us through our new experiences and responsibilities was Mrs. Simonds, our class advisor. Some of our goals for the year included a Freshman Social and some dances. These things required money. Therefore we held our fundraising magazine drive, bake sale and car wash. These gave us a good start and something to build our class treasury on. I think our class has a great four years ahead of us. So. let ' s make the most of them. Matt Manlove Freshman Class President Officers (left to right) - Matt Manlove (president). The constant effort of the entire staff brought about a yearbook which has been well thought out. By working together we combined our ideas and talents to develop a specific style to this year ' s book. We are all very grateful to our reliable Advisor. Mr. Donald Frederick. He was always ahead of us. correcting our errors and encouraging our ideas. When there was a deadline approaching, he was constantly guiding us in the right direction. Much appreciation is also given to Mr. Daniel Smith, our representative from Jos ten ' s American Yearbook company. Dan ' s counseling and ideas inspired all of us to work towards an original yearbook. Another person who deserves many thanks is our photographer, Mr. Gary Melino. Due to his experience and imagination. Gary provided us with various photos and support to enhance our creativity. The cover to this year ' s Tattletale was designed by Lynn Schneider.who deserves much credit along with Kris ten Dickenson, for her poem which inspired the book. In closing, our high school years hold many memories for us. It is up to all of us - The Class of 1983- to make a rewarding life for ourselves in our future and to become a contributing member to our society. Lisa, Ron, and Carolyn
