Dedication . . . the fact that a teacher is chosen by a senior class as being one of the most appreciated people they have come to know dur- ing their high school years says a great deal about that teacher. Mr. Newman, you have been noted as being a person who cares a little more, listens a little bit longer, and never runs shon of understanding. That little extra you have taken the time to give has not gone unnoticed. 15 Donald Brigham, Art Department Chairman Sonia Coleman, Special Education William Conlan, Social Studies 18 1 Joyce O ' Brian, Enclish Vera Wollfort, Social Studies Pamela Wrigley, Foreign Languages Gail Young, Physical Education Teacher Aides FRONT ROW: Gladys Remilus, Winifred Talberg, Cathy Almeida, Barbara Klang, Beverly Bradford. No group of people can spend that much time together without creating a little history of their own. It may not become one of the great contributions to the history of civilization, but it is a very important part of each of our lives. The world around us was making its own history, a history that will always be a part of us. Sophomore Year There we were, three very separate groups of people placed together in a new building and suddenly told, Hey, you ' re the class of 1975. The old main lobby was simply called the main lobby and when you went to the office, there was only one place to go. We got off to a hopeful start with class advi- sors Miss Lajeunesse, Mr. Opiekun and Mr. Cignarella. We elected for class president Sue Schulze, for Vice President, Margaret McLaughlin, for Secretary, Michele Laferriere and Treasurer, Patti Maguire. We also elected eight student coun- cil representatives: John Casey, Mickey Hanewich, Emmet Kane, Mary Lee Kerrins, Kathy Lee, Carol Provost, Karen Roy and Patty Silvia. We were now really getting actively involved in the school. One of our most successful fund raising events was our con- cert featuring Celebration. Maybe one of the not-so-pleasant memories was that of assigned study halls, unless you were lucky enough to escape to SST in Cafeteria B (for those of you who aren ' t too sure of the location of this once-existing eating place, it is now part of the Business rooms. Around Thanksgiving we decided to make a gesture of equality by electing both a homecoming king and queen, Cindy I3osh and John Casey. It seems that we had just finished going through elections when they came up again. We only made two changes in our class officers, new class president Kevin Sweeney and a new secretary, Julie Nelson. We also elected eight student council representatives: John Casey, Emmet Kane, Mary Lee Kerrins, Linda Lapierre, Kathy Lee, Karen Roy, Patty Silvia and Sue Wolstencrof t. Sue Schulz was elected to be our student coun- cil vice-president. We will always remember our great class meetings and being told by the administration what an impressive start we had made so far. They have probably long since given up those false hopes. Junior Year After one year of getting well-acquainted with our new sur- roundings, we arrived back in September 1973 to find we still had a challenge to face. The new addition was open and the high school was now four times its original size. l-OSO, nister for eninn t cmbS the Un Goes On and On Sources says Nixon-Dean ta is explosive By Jack Nelson Los Angeles Times WASHINGTON — The tape l President Nixon ' s conversation wi John W. THE LEGISLATIVE streaker was gra ' explained — before he was freed witl The biggest thrill for the first half of the year was — can you believe it — class rings. These signed of our superiority to our underclassmen (soon to be discarded as relics) were flashed around the school for the proper amount of time before taking on the important task of binding the ties of true love. Lots of people were passing one of the most important tests of their lives, their license. It was especially frustrating to get your license and not be able to go anywhere because of the gas shortage. People began to know what patience was after waiting an hour in line for gas. In April of our junior year we held one of our most impor- tant social events, the Junior gathering. It was held at the Hearthstone restaurant. The year wouldn ' t have been complete without another set of elections. The class faced a tough decision with only one candidate for president, John Casey. We elected Don Cui for Vice-President, Michele Laferriere for secretary and Kim Gov- crno for treasurer. Sue Schulze was elected as student council President (or student government and services organizations President as the name now officially stands.) Emmet Kane was elected Vice-President and Betsy Bullock, Mickey Hanewch, Kathy Lee, Lisa Moore, Karen Roy and Patty Silvia were elected as senior class representatives. Greg Joyce, Joyce McKearney, Linda Powers and Sue Schwartz were elected to the Student Advisory Council. The end of the year came quickly and most of us were faced with the shocking realization that we only had one more year left and a lot of important decisions. Senior Year September 1974 came and we finally entered the high school as seniors. We all became familiar faces in guidance as we searched for some direction for our futures. College appli- cations, transcripts, recommendations, courses and credits all suddenly became very important. On November 22nd, at the Venus deMilo, we held the most important social event of our high school years, the sen- ior prom. Christmas came and one of the nice memories was the gathering in the Resource Center to sing Christmas Carols on the day before Christmas Vacation. One of the big events for the music department was held in January when schcx)l bands and orchestras came from all over the state for a weekend of music. The year isn ' t over and maybe some of the best memories are yet to come. In the spring there will be trips to Europe, the senior play The Matchmaker and, of course, graduation for about 480 seniors. It always seemed like the end would never come, now wc are facing it and lcx)king hopefully toward the future. ntldtion S., Russia Resume Arms Talk lEVA (UPI) - The United States and !sumed Strategic Arms Limitation Talks C ' with Russia, testing nuclear warhead ' Starting research and development or systems.
