D.A.R. Good Citizen Each year all public high schools are invited to choose a girl from the senior class to represent them at the State Conference of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Three girls are selected by a vote of the senior students. From the three nominees, the faculty select the one to be the Good Citizen. The D. A. R. Good Citizen must possess the following qualities to an outstanding degree: Dependability, including truthfulness, loyalty and punctuality Service, including cooperation, courtesy, consideration of others Leadership, including personality, self-control Patriotism, including unselfish interest in family, school, community, and nation Congratulations to this yearls Good Citizen, Norma Kerk- hoffl Boys' and Girls' State Each year the American legion and the Legion Auxiliary sponsor similar programs for boys and girls-Boys, and Girls' State. These imaginary states, modeled on our state government, are governed by the youths themselves. They hold elections, and certain mem- bers are chosen to attend Girls' and Boys, Nations. Delegates are chosen first on the basis of scholarship. Then extra- curricular activities and interests are brought into consideration. Boys' and Girls' States supply an excellent experience in learning about government, but more im- portant, in meeting and cooperating with many different people.
