The co-editors present it with the hope that the theme Magic Words will accomplish its purpose. In it is the story of our high school career which we have tried to make a collection of every memory, of every picture worth keeping. Very soon now we shall begin our journeys-journeys which will be many and varied--but which will all lead away from the few years we have shared. These Magic Words, then, must have the power to bring us back, to recapture, the days spent here. We believe that they will. You have earned a fine reputation for dependability and responsibility. These characteristics have been earned as a group. Each of you can profit by continuing to strive to merit these fine character traits in your life after graduation. You may be proud of your achievement as a class and as school citizens. ANSON B. BARBER Superintendent of Schools Zfrilfczjwzlis' Message It seems to me that events appear even more pleasant in retrospect than they do when they are occurring. I believe that your future recollections of high school will constitute an important part of your repertory of favorite memories. In order to encourage you to continue to feel a part of this school may I make the following observations. Even though many students have preceded you in Attleboro High School and many more will follow you, your presence here has had a lasting effect upon the school. In the same way that the conduct of a parent affects that of a child, the personality of each class influences the formation of the personality of each subsequent class. As individuals and as a group you are now a factor in the evolution of the Attleboro High School. When you hear the name of this school mentioned in the future, you should recognize that the Attleboro High School means you, and it will always mean you as long as the school exists. You are now graduating, but you are not actually leaving us. You have become a part of the school's tradition and as such you will always remain part of the school. It has been a personal pleasure for me to come to know your class, and I extend my sincere congratulations upon your graduation. THOMAS H. RICHARDSON Principal ef A - MRS 1 'V Who is SYIVIKD Jr . Like every other class, we had great enthusiasm and hopes for the future. The first outstanding event of the year was our election of class officers. After casting our ballots and tallying the results, we found the positions of authority went to David O'Connell, President, David Jensen, Vice President, Martha Lyons, Secretary, and Suzanne Cooper, Treasurer. Our delegates to the Student Council were George Barber, Alfred DeLutis, Kent Frazer, Paul Guillete, David O'Connell, James Romero, Sandra McLear, and Willard Wiswall. For our social, we chose Off Shore, as the theme. The committee, under the direction of Douglas Gobin, was credited with a smashing success. Others on the committee were David O'Connell, David Jensen, Suzanne Cooper, Martha Lyons, Joan Berryg Sheila Devine, Andrea Collins, Marilyn Nadow, Lorraine Ratte, Carol McCracken, Kent Frazer, and Kenneth Brassard. Representing our class on the football squad were Alfred DeLutis, Grahan Chase, David Jensen, David Tingle, Paul Jost, Henry Ostrander, Gerard Gravel, William Wild, and Edward Leedham. Our boys also showed their strength in basketball. Neil Benson, Alfred DuLutis, Gerry Gravel, David Tingle, Henry Ostrander, David Jensen, Russell Remieres, Chester Milosh, John Ross, Dick Chadwick and Peter Eliason represented our class on the squad. Sandra McLear, Dolores O'Gara, Arlene Entwistle, Carol Bowen, Marjorie McManus, Lorraine Proulx and Dee Killion aided the girls' basketball team toward many a victory. In May, we had seven very happy girls in our class. Carol Hannon, Patricia Duffy, Connie Robins, Nancy Latimer, Diane Richardson, and Magdaline Quaglia were chosen majorettes for the following year, while Adrea Collins was voted to represent our class on the cheering squad. Thus closed our activities as sophomores. With anticipation we looked forward to September and wondered what our Junior year would bring. Our year could not have been successful without the guidance of our class advisor, Miss Daley. To her we owe a debt of gratitude for the assistance she gave us. JUNIOR YEAR Now we were juniors-Upper classmen! Election time rolled around, and after the ballots were counted, we acknowledged Kent Frazer as our president, David Jensen, Vice President, Martha Lyons, Secretary, and Suzanne Cooper as Treasurer. Football was booming as a result of junior additions. George Barber, Alfred Delutis, Bazil White, Joe Dion, Paul Jost, Norman Maloof, Kent Frazer, and Henry Ostrander did a great deal toward making this season a successful one. Our junior representatives for Student Council were Richard Varrier, Sheila Devine, Andrea Collins, Alfred DeLutis, and David O'Connell, while Sandra McLear was secretary of the council. Jumpin' Jupiter, time for our class dance, and that's just what we called it. Our able dance committee included Suzanne Cooper, chairman, David Jensen, Kent Fraxer, Martha Lyons, Marilyn Nadow, Ann Fantaccione, Rusty Remieres, Nancy Scott, and Alfred DeLutis. The Girls' Basketball Team had a successful year with Lois Kelsall, Sandra McLear, Marjorie McManus, Carol Bowen, and Lorraine Proulx representing our class. With a great start the boys' basketball team began their season. The outstanding juniors were Henry Ostrander, Rusty Remieres, David Jensen, John Ross, Graham Chase, David Tingle, Peter Larson, and Ralph Gustaf- son. That season will remain as a never to be forgotten one. We were entered in the Tech Tournament for the second time in four years, and after triumphantly defeating New Bedford, we were defeated by Somerville. This team will always be remembered as a sportsmanlike and truly outstanding squad, and our class was very proud of the juniors who participated. Our able ring committee including Suzanne Cooper, David Jensen, Kent Fraxer, Martha Lyons, Joan Berry, Nancy Boyd, Alfred DeLutis and Richard Varrier did a splendid job in the choosing of our ring which proved its merit to our junior class. Four members of our class were in the limelight by representing us at Girls' and Boys' State. They were David Klinke, Loren Senseman, David O'Connell who went to Boys' State while Yvette Capillon represented us at Girls' State. Ten girls were elected into the Tri-Y this year. These girls were chosen by their classmates, based on school contributions to activities. They included Sandra McLear, Vice Presidentg Nancy Boyd, Treasurer, Carol Bowen, Sheila Devine, Diane Richardson, Marjorie McManus, Suzanne Cooper, Marths Lyons, Dee Killion, Andrea Collins, and Gail Traverse. Finally the year came to a solemn climax as ten juniors were inducted into the National Honor Society. We were very proud of these students, as this was an extremely large number to be inducted to the society. It included Anne Fantaccione, Judith White, David Klinke, Nancy Scott, Helen Andrews, Yvette Capillon, Andrea Collins, Diana Berberian, Gail Traverse and Gretchen Augat. We said good-by to Gretchen and Bail at the close of the school year, as both were leavinghfor new schools. They will be remembered for their fine scholastic activities and their participation in our activities. We left Attleboro High School for summer vacation, our junior year behind us, many feeling happy while others were a little worried as to whether we would measure up to the class which had just graduated, Miss Pierce and Mrs. Dean, our junior class advisors, gave us much needed advice during the year, and we extend our thanks to them. SENIOR YEAR There's a Senior. These were the words we heard as we walked the halls of Attleboro High in September. It all seemed incredible that soon we must enter into the wide myste- rious world. Realizing that we wished to make our Senior year a memorable one. To get us off to a flying start positions of authority were allotted to Kent Fraxer, President, Chicky McManus, Treasurer, Sandra McLear. Vice President, and Martha Lyons, Secre- tary. Great responsibilities were placed upon them. David O'Connell acted as president of Student Council, and James Romero was the able vice president. Representatives to the council this year were Teddy Hicks, Sandra McLear, Suzanne Cooper, George Barber. Our fighting gridironers received many a cheer, as each Saturday we witnessed fine play upon the part of our boys. Seniors included George Barber, Thomas Eliason, Norman Maloof, Kent Frazer, John Coleman, Joe Dion, Graham Chace, Alfred DeLutis, Michael Marquez, David Tingle, Henry Ostrai ler, Peter Eliason, Bazil White, Paul Jost, Edmund Leedham, and Dave Jensen. One the c.!'ee.'irxg squad Andrea Collins lead us in our rooting with the able assistance of two more'Seniors. Sue Cooper and Carol Bowen. Our class was well represented among thefmajorcites and band members as well as in the school activities. Carol Hannon did a fine job leading our majorettes. On October 22, the seniors along with the underclassmen enjoyed the class social, Autumn Melody. The hard working dance committee was credited with a great success under the leadership of Carol Van Cise assisted by Luella Hatfield, Carol McCracken, Neil Banson, Rusty Remieres, Patricia Duffy, Andrea Collins, Dorothy Rogers, and the class officers. Ten more girls were elected into Tri-Y. They included Nancy Scott, Carol Hannon, Connie Robbins, Judy White, Ann Fantaccione, Dot Rogers, Yvette Cappilon, Arlene Entwistle, Lois Kal- sallg Nancy Lonsbury, and Maggie Quaglia. January Thaw was presented on December 2, and was an outstanding success. Parents and friends filled the auditorium to see the excellent performance on the part of Bill Gaudreau, Diane Berberian, Lois Kelsall, Sheila Devine, Joan Berry, Nancy Scott, Rusty Remierrs, Willard Wiswall, Carol Price, Edward Pollock, Kent Fraxer, Teddy Hichks, David Klinke, and Michael Marquez. Much credit is given to all whf- iided in our class play, and expecially to Mr. Willey our play director. Our Good Government Day representative was Kent Frazer while Anne Fantaccione was elected DAR Good Citizen. We will always remember the evening of February when our Senior Prom was presented, and all the hard w-wrk was well rewarded. A.H.S. will have to go far to replace Chicky McManus, Arlene Ef-twistle, Lois Kelsall, Sandra McLear and Lorraine Proulx who were the spark plugs of the girls' basketball team. Carrying the pride of our class to the Armory were Henry Ostrander, Rusty Remieres, John Coleman, John Ross, David Jense-1, Gerry Gravel, David Allen, and Graham Chase. Now we are about to end our high school career. After graduation we will treasure the memories we shared as classmates of Attleboro High. To obtain our utmost splendor we must work incessantly, For the shining goal we looked for was far beyond the sky. As our plant soared ever upward now reaching further for the sun, Our branches became much stronger, our burden not so great. Our leaves absorbed the knowledge which was free to everyone, The joy, the toil, the heartache were part of nature's fate. The success which we had dreamed of was getting close at hand, Then on a strong and sturdy limb a bud began to grow, And soon it would develop into something big and grand, For the fullness we had worked for would now begin to show. That blossom now has opened into something soft and redg Those petals bright are what we've learned these years at AHSQ Each petal is some knowledge held fast within our head, And as we travel through our lives we'll surely find success.
